I went to the local record store both Friday & Saturday (see the News board about a BIG new release!).
Didn't get anything Fri, but got a lot on Saturday! I picked up Essential Elvis Volume 3 for $7.99 used. I was glad to get this as I have Volumes 1, 2 & 6. These are all unreleased takes. Volume 1 is the best with stuff from the first three soundtracks. (Actually that volume has regular released songs too)
My wife picked up Terri Clark's Greatest Hits and Tommy Shane Steiner who has one sad song. I don't understand women-she buys it and then cries! Same thing with TV! I listen to music and watch TV to ESCAPE how shitty the world is!
I picked up my dad's birthday and Christmas gifts already-Brian Wilson's new album and a CD by The Hardtimes. Ever hear of them? They had one album in the late 60's and they recorded Fortune Teller, which peaked at like 97 on the charts! LOL! Anyway, my dad has that original album, so I thought I'd upgrade for him, with bonus tracks.
My daughter bought the Sleeping Beauty soundtrack!
On Saturday, Bekki and I went to an all night flea market! Tons of albums, but I only spent $3. Got 2 tapes-The Pretenders first album and The Raspberries Best Featuring Eric Carmen. On album I picked up America's Homecoming. I think that's it-the 76 release. Any suggestions on there?
We also bought a new DVD/VCR. With it's purchase, you get a free CD. So I picked up the Beatles First US Visit.

Very cool finds!
The Hardtimes sound vaguely familiar, but I don't think I've ever heard anything of theirs. I have the new Brian Wilson CD, and it's very good - will be a great gift for your dad!
The America LP - is it the one with Today's the Day? It's been a long time since I've listened to the album, but that track and Jet Boy Blue are two good ones that stand out for me.

I know for sure Jet Boy Blue is on there and the other sounds familiar. If they are for sure on the same album, then that's it! Thanks Dawn, I'll check those out!

Nice finds! All night flea market ? cool! Besides Ventura Highway which of course is great ! - 3 other excellent tunes are Don't Cross The River , To Each is Own and Only In Your Heart - it has an excellent backward guitar solo at the end. Oh! and here are some highlights from the Raspberries tape Starting Over , Overnight Sensation , Tonight , Ecstasy , Drivin ' Around and of course don't forget Go All The Way and I Wanna Be With You.

Ken-sorry, I had the wrong title, I meant Hideaway. Dawn actually knew the right album, I guess based on the year! And of course I know Don't Cross the River and Only in Your Heart-love the backwards guitar! So anyway, are you familiar with Hideaway? Thanks for the Raspberries suggestions!

Thanks for the Raspberries suggestions! No problem buddy enjoy! No worries:) I kind of wondered because Homecoming was of course '72 and you said '76 then Dawn mentioned Today's the Day. Besides "Today" the only other song I'm familiar with is Amber Cascades - nice guitar picking on this and it has a nice string arrangment - both are on the Definitive America Collection CD.

I didn't know Terri Clark had a greatest hits out! I'm gonna have to pick that up sometime. I meant to tell you about this a couple months ago, but I developed some pictures where this woman went to a Terri Clark concert (Maybe Fan Fair, I don't know. Did she play there?) and got to meet Terri backstage. It was very cool!
Hey, don't knock the sad song thing! It's a girl thing. Every now and then it's nice just to have a good cry.

Sounds like you got some nice buys. I think if I went to an all night flea market, I would have spent more than $3.00. Love flea markets.
Teri Clarke was one of the artists I saw at the Country Stampede two months ago. Kinda liked her, although I don't think I'd go out of my way to buy anything by her.
I don't know the America album, but IMO, they were past their peak in 1976. And of course I only know the chart hits by the Raspberries. May have to try & find the Raspberries Best, sounds good. Pretenders I have on vinyl.
I remember buying on those Disney soundtracks for my kids, cassette & vinyl. We still got them, not sure what we will do with them now.

Oh believe me, I normally spend way more than $3 at flea markets! I love em too. There just wasn't much there I wanted within a reasonable price range. Matter of fact, I went back to buy these things because I couldn't leave without buying something!! LOL!! Hmmmm, you could send those soundtracks to me!

Have you heard her new song, Girls Lie Too? That's from the Greatest Hits! My wife and my cousin were having a good laugh because my cousin is pregnant right now and they talked about how they will just cry out of nowhere and me and her husband will both be like, "What?? What the hell's wrong??"

Sounds like a good weekend, Adam. I used to love to go to flea markets just for the old records and books. I don't know what's on the Rasperries tape you got, but let me add a couple of recommendations to Ken's if they happen to be on the tape: Don't Want To Say Goodbye, Cruisin' Music (STRONG Beach Boys influence here), and I Reach For The Light.

There IS a huge BB influence on that one-was just listening to it in the car! But it's DRIVIN' Music.

Well then you GOTTA go buy it! Do you want to tell us all something? It is so incredibly impossible. You have no idea. But if I am, you'll be the first ones to know.
