Is that a lucky score or what?
I ripped the CD's onto my hard drive, and I'm listening right now. Sounds great so far! I was always more of a fan of the Michael McDonald era over the Tom Johnston era, because songs like "China Grove" and "Listen To The Music" seemed too "southern rock" for my tastes. But I'm really impressed with a lot of these songs. Some of them kind of remind me of (dare I say it?) Poco!
And I can now retire my 2 best of CD's..

I may have mentioned, I think in my various homemade CD's (the specific artist ones) that I have been going to the library for CD's for the past few months! (I'm assuming you mean you "checked it out", not bought it.)
I've taken out all the various Zep box sets, Pandora's Box from Aerosmith, ELO's second box set, not to mention Graham Parsons' 2 disc anthology!
My next ones will be the 2 Nuggets box sets!
Maybe I'll check out Deep Purple's and Alice's as well!

Stuff I wouldn't mind having a copy of but would never buy (a Doo Wop collection I checked out last year comes to mind). Once in a while though, you find a gem there (I checked out "Let It Be... Naked" when it first came out!) I'm not sure if they network with other libraries or not, I'll have to find out.

I am probably going to check out the Ricky Nelson box set. I like Ricky, but wouldn't spend the $$ for a multi-disc collection. I do remember discussing the library thing with you, but it was on my post about BUYING CD's. I remember you thought it was strange that the New Wave hits CD was there, but it was actually a donation from someone (there was no library stickers, stamps, etc on it). But, you can get most artists through the library system. I haven't tried, but I bet you could get Slayer and Marilyn Manson! I know you can get Metallica.

An excellent score Pete. My local Library has a pretty good selection of CD's but I've never noticed any box sets. You're very lucky!

A great find, Pete! I have the Best of Vol. 1 & 2 as well, but they're missing some key singles such as Another Park, Another Sunday and Sweet Maxine, and some great album cuts. I'd like to pick up that box set sometime.

I will likely never get that box set, but still good you came upon it! To me, the Doobies are an act I like most for each of their individual albums, and I've said this enough--I HATE the single edit of Listen to the Music!!!

I get cds from the library all the time but I never thought about checking to see what box sets were available. I already own this Doobie Bros set so I don't need that one, but thanks for the suggestion in general.

I'm jealous of all you guys who can get decent rock at your libraries. Our library only has a limited stock of classical music - and very old recordings at that (for cds). The only rock I ever found there was a Elvis Sun Sessions cd. That was cool, but never anything else.
