Hi gang Our local record show is coming up on the 16th of September, so for the past several months, I've been buying whatever albums I can find in nice shape. Today I bought: Uriah Heep - Demons and Wizards and Foghat - Fool For The City In weeks past: KISS - Alive (w/book) The Rezillos - Can't Stand The Rezillos - I wasn't all that familiar with this band, all I knew was the name. Rush - Moving Pictures Frank Zappa & The Mothers - Fillmore East - June 1971 K-tel - 36 Supergold Hits (My oldest brother found this one for me) Soundtrack - Zabriskie Point (I've never seen the movie, but as many of you know a couple of Pink Floyd tracks are included). (I sell quite a bit of "Floyd" The Beatles - The Early Beatles (Capitol "purple label") Booker T & The MG's - Greatest Hits Edward Bear - Close Your Eyes Gentle Giant - Free Hand (once again, I'm only familiar with the band's name) Buddy Holly - The Great Buddy Holly Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow (nice copy! - Stereo) Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Led Zeppelin - Houses Of The Holy

Surrealistic Pillow is a big fave of mine, as it reminds me of the summer of '67 - which was a real good time in my life. I also really like the Zep and Elton albums. I've always ignored "The Early Beatles" as it had already been released on Vee Jay two years earlier as "Introducing The Beatles", which I bought in early '64. It's strange to read that Capitol Records "passed" on the rights to those songs originally.

It's strange to read that Capitol Records "passed" on the rights to those songs originally. I've really dug Surrealistic Pillow in the past couple of years - it's a great album. It is very odd that Capitol passed on those tracks the first time around.I read in one of my books about the Beatles that VeeJay had to hand over the songs by a certain time, and if they failed to do so Capitol would have sued.

Those are some excellent albums, Ken. I have the K-Tel SuperGold hits, but it's broken down into two separate volumes instead of the double-album set.
How did the record fair go?

The record fair went very well My brother and I sold a bit of everything - 45's , DVD's , music magazines, albums ( for e.g.Deep Purple , Lesley Gore, J Geils) My brother also sold a copy of the 1964 Beatles tour book, and I sold a copy of the Let It Be book that came with the album - it's the second one I've been able to find.

Glad to hear the fair went well, Ken. Those Beatles books sound very cool - I don't think I've ever come across those. Do you see many Beach Boys LPs at the fairs? I'm on a perpetual hunt for a near-mint or VG++ Beach Boys Stack-o-Tracks LP with chord booklet. I did come across one at Rockaway Records about a year ago that was in very nice shape except for one hole punch, but it was $175. I mulled over whether or not I wanted to spend that much, and when I finally decided to go back and get it, someone had beaten me to it! Grrr!

Those are some great finds. Back in September, I purchased "Magic" by Bruce Springsteen. The LP was available one week before the CD. Being a fan, I had to get it that day. It was only $14.99, but the vinyl was 180 gram. I don't that means, but the sound quality was very good.
