ok. am I the only one here who watched this??
Anyway, I enjoyed it but it's clear that if you want the original singers ya gotta go with PBS.
Still I think overall the performers last night did a fine job.
I believe my favoorite number was when Gladys Knight sang ""Grapevine".I also thought Nick Lachey's duet with Jermaine Jackson sounded good, ditto Smokey Robinson's with Joss Stone.
But it was clear Disney was in charge when "Raven" made an apperance. Maybe it's just me but her singing didn't seem equl to the task. *shrugs*
Also, though it was certainly no surprise it was still kind of disappointing that Mary, Cindy AND Diana couldn't "bury the hatchet" for one night and appear on stage together for at least one number.
I also think BOTH versions of The Temptations should have appeared as well.
Lastly, I think they should have paid more respect to the Funk Bros! Kimberly Lock did a great job fronting them imo though. (I can't remember who else sang with 'em)
(Speaking of Kimberly, I am also happy that I was able to catch the current AI contestants during the commercialbreaks. LOL!)
Anyway, what did YOU think about it? Anyone??

Hi Rali! Well, I sent you an e-mail about the show earlier, but I'll comment here too. I agree with you about that Raven girl. That was just awful. She had no business being there. The 2 Supremes and Kelly Rowland...eh. I wasn't impressed. Wasn't impressed with the "fake" Pips either. Coulda done without that. But Gladys was good, as usual. Kimberley Locke was really good, I thought. I was hoping she would have sung another song, but it didn't happen. And Smokey Robinson with Joss Stone was a highlight, too. Mainly because of Joss. LOL! Didn't see the whole show, only bits and pieces of it. Lionel Richie still sounded pretty good, and he was an ok host. Overall, what I saw of the show wasn't too bad, I guess.

I had heard about it during the day that day, but I didn't watch it. I like Motown stuff, but I don't know that I'd like this. I know they are trying to showcase ALL the years of the label, but I wouldn't have wanted to see Smokey singing duet with someone. No surprise about the Supremes is right! Diana is such a jerk. When will she realize people want the Supremes, not her? There's 2 versions of the Temps? Without Eddie and David, I don't know that I'd like either.

I really didn't have time to watch much of it. Did see the Kelly Rowland and the Supremes medley and was not impressed. I agree, Diana is a jerk. I thought the Temptations were all dead except for Otis Williams, so I wasn't really interested in seeing them. Oh, Rali, I thought that AI still stood for Artificial Intelligence. ;D

I watched it and overall was disappointed.
The highlights, imo, were Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson & the Four Tops. I was also impressed with Michael MacDonald.
The lowlights were the Supremes, Temps, & Commodores (Lionel Richie was there, why couldn't he sing Brickhouse with them?). The lowest point however, was then shameless commercial promotion at the end. While some of Motown's best & brightest are singing on stage, we're stuck with an American Airlines commerical. Another good reason not to watch ABC or Disney.

I only watched the first half of the show and it sucked so bad I was more than ready to change the channel, but then Gladys Knight came on. She salvaged the show for me. I thought she sounded great.
