Ok, I know I am one of the stickler's for a "music only" site, but for one, many of us have strayed, for two, some of these shows feature music and for three, let's face it:TV is VERY closely tied to music! www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=2657I cannot BELIEVE with some of the CRAP that is out and coming out on DVD that Wings, which lasted 8 seasons, is not coming out on DVD yet!!

I will definitely be getting The Brady Bunch and The Partridge Family when they come out, as well as Murphy Brown. But I agree that some great shows are missing from that list. I can't understand why The Wonder Years isn't slated for release this year, but Boy Meets World is already available!

Well, a lot of us watch TV, especially classic shows, so why not?
I love buying TV shows on DVD, especially since most of the stuff on TV today is crap. Even TV Land has gotten boring over the past few months..
Of the shows listed, I'm looking forward to Night Court, One Day At A Time, and the immature kid in me is looking forward to The Brak Show.
I know that the first season of Taxi is out, but that season was lame.. I'm looking forward to the later seasons with Christopher Lloyd instead of that dorky guy whose name I can't even remember from season one..
STILL no Welcome Back, Kotter or WKRP... I'm sure (at least I HOPE) they'll come out eventually, though..

Even without Wings (and as Pete mentioned Kotter & WKRP), there's still some good shows.
Hogan's Heroes was a staple in my house in the 60s. So funny. McHale's Navy was another great military comedy. Night Court was one of the funniest shows in the 80s. I've always had a soft spot for Mr. Magoo. He was the funniest Scrooge (and the most nearsighted)

I agree with you Adam on some of the stuff that's out on DVD - for instance on a recent trip to one of our local CD / DVD chain stores I noticed Season 1 of Night Rider (yikes!) Yet I'm very happy with many of the up coming new releases like:
Leave it to Beaver The Partridge Family I see Season 3 of The Flintstones is out Night Court etc etc It's nice to see more cartoons being released like Josie & The Pussycats.
Saved By The Bell: The New Class (??) who's idea was it to release that on DVD ? "cringe" yeah I'm going to rush out and buy that one - LOL!
I also would like to see The Wonder Years make it's DVD debut - I love that show. I have a few of the Xmas episodes on video.

Somehow I had missed this post when Adam originally did it back in January. This subject is near and dear to my heart however because I volunteer for the "TVshowsonDVD" website that was referenced.
I can tell you the #1 reason why many of our beloved shows like WKRP, and The Wonder Years aren't on DVD yet and that's - MUSIC LICENSING.
If you knew the snafus that the production companies are dealing with negotiating the music rights for the WKRP episodes, you'd cringe.
Of course that doesn't explain why beloved series like "Wings" , "Welcome Back Kotter", "China Beach" etc. aren't out when you can buy the DVD for a lot of the recent crap that's been on.
Anyway, it's a good discussion.

Anyway, it's a good discussion. There's already been a "snafu" with the "Quantum Leap, Season 2" DVD set from Universal. They changed the music in a couple of episodes because of licensing. In one show where Sam (Scott Bakula) leaps into a DJ, there's different songs in the soundtrack than what was originally aired. In another show, there's been a lot of uproar from the fans about one scene where Al's hologram (Dean Stockwell) tries to tell his first wife that he's not missing in action and that he'll return to her, and in the original show there's supposed to be Ray Charles' "Georgia On My Mind" playing in the background. The song is not on the DVD. Licensing!
