Last night was the 2006 Rockfeller Center Xmas tree lighting special on NBC. I'm such a sucker for this show every year. One of these days I'm going to be in NYC for the big event, I've tried unsuccessfully for years to make it. It's sad because I'm actually going to be in New York on Sunday for a couple of weeks, so I just missed it. Anyway, last night's performances were fairly good. Every year the artist line-up is sort of a crapshoot. They try to have a variety - this year ended up with Martina McBride, Enya, Lionel Richie, Bette Midler, Hall & Oates, John Legend, American Idol winner Taylor Hicks, Christina Aguilera, and Sarah Machlaclan (maybe a couple others?). Pretty good performances by all but my faves were Bette, Hicks, and McBride, the latter of which sand a great rendition of "O Come All Ye Faithful". After watching the Charlie Brown Xmas special on Tuesday and this last night, the holiday season is finally beginning for me! ;D

I saw it too. Of course, Martina was the highlight for me! I agree that Bette and Taylor Hicks were good too. I was surprised to hear Sarah Machlaclan do a rendition of John Lennon's Happy Christmas. I thought she did a good job...I just don't think I've ever heard anyone cover that song before. Good song!
