I'm all excited because Martina is up for Female of the Year (OF COURSE!!) AND is performing!!
Actually there are quite a number of performers tonight.
How about some predictions?
Female of the Year:
Terri Clark
Faith Hill
Martina McBride
Shania Twain
Lee Ann Womack
In all honesty, looking at in objectively, NO ONE else had the year Martina did! Terri Clark had a comeback, but it was small. Lee Ann's album bombed, and Shania and Faith are almost PURE pop. I think Martina should get her second award in a row. Hopefully they won't pick one of the two media darlings.
Male:
Kenny Chesney
Alan Jackson
Toby Keith
Tim McGraw
George Strait
Toby's got this one sown up. He was America's country hero of the last year.
Duo:
Brooks & Dunn
Hometown News
Montgomery Gentry
Sons of the Desert
Bellamy Brothers
I don't see anyone unseating Brooks and Dunn. (Hometown News?? WTF???)
Group:
Diamond Rio
Dixie Chicks
Lonestar
Rascal Flatts
Trick Pony
This will be the test. Can the Dixies overcome the backlash? I think MAYBE. If not, it'll be Lonestar. But I really still am thinking Dixies.
New Female:
Kellie Coffey
Jennifer Hanson
Rebecca Lynn Howard
Technically, Howard had an album a few years back, but I guess they go by your first BIG album. Her song Forgive was HUGE. That'll sow up the win for her.
New Male:
Joe Nichols
Blake Shelton
Darryl Worley
With Have You Forgotten, there is NO WAY Worley is going to lose.
Entertainer of the Year:
Brooks & Dunn
Kenny Chesney
Dixie Chicks
Alan Jackson
Toby Keith
American hero Keith will win over enemies, the Dixies.
New Group:
Emerson Drive
Nickel Creek
Pinmonkey
I am hoping Nickel Creek, 3 talented kids playing bluegrass take this award. Could possibly go to Emerson Drive though, which are very poppy. Could go either way.
Album of the Year:
Dixie Chicks
Alan Jackson
Kenny Chesney
Trick Pony
Toby Keith
Again, could be down to Keith and the Dixies, but Jackson could pull the surprise victory.
Song of the Year:
A Lot of Things Different Kenny Chesney
Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue Toby Keith
Drive Alan Jackson
Forgive Rebecca Lynn Howard
I'm Movin' On Rascal Flatts
Ain't no WAY Keith is losing this one.
And your predictions??
