This was actually on a couple months ago. I DVR'd it while watching it and I'm taping it onto disc right now.
At the point I've watched up to now, they've had on Pete Rivera (Rare Earth), Sonny Geraci (Climax), Gary Wright, Orleans, KC & Sunshine Band, Maxine Nightingale & Wild Cherry.
All things considered, everyone looks and sounds very good!
PBS has had many similar specials which I believe we've discussed before, like 60s and doo-wop.
But did anyone catch this one?

No I didn't, Adam. But it's good to see they're doing '70s also. Some of the '70s artists are now as old as the '50s artists were when they started doing the doo wop shows. Was it one of those annoying 'here's 5 minutes of music (with half the screen blocked out by pledge numbers to call) followed by 15 minutes of donate to PBS and if you donate $100 we'll give you a $20 DVD' thing? It's good to see the old performers, but the format sure is annoying.

I still have on videotape a Beatles doccumentary they showed in 1987, complete with "breaks" where they'd say "For every $100 pledge you get your choice (on vinyl!) of 'The Beatles 1962-1966' OR 'The Beatles 1967-1970'". I'm sitting there thinking "For $100 you should get 'em BOTH!!"

I think they played 4 or 5 artists before they went to "the phone room" and the only graphics on the screen were for the artist and song name, right at the beginning.

I wonder if people complained about their other format and they lightened up. So who still sounded good, and who sounded like the years have been rough?

I guess about two weeks ago now, I caught the last 30 minutes or so of it. I really enjoyed it - it was well done. I'm hoping to catch the whole program - so i'm keeping an eye on the PBS listings.

I caught part of the show and really enjoyed it - KC and the Sunshine Band were totally awesome!! Some of the acts I hardly recognized, and some of them I didn't know the band name but recognized the songs.
Hopefully this will at some point get released other than as a pledge reward - I would really like to see it again without the interruptions!
