Little Richard-"WOOOOOOO!! Get my picture and my book!!! Shut up!!!" He did a free show in Boston a few years ago. He kept saying "OK we gonna do one more then we got to go, gotta go! (He said that between EVERY song!) Then he would proceed to do 45-second renditions of all his hits at a breakneck pace! "All right, just ONE more but we really got to get goin' after that! Get my picture and my book! Shut up!!" Weird dude.... Little River Band-I bought the Greatest Hits CD just before they remastered it and added bonus tracks. Should get the new version, but I hate buying CD's twice! Did not know that George Martin produced them. All of their hits were great, even the minor hit they had as LRB in '85, "Playing To Win". Live-They got a bit of a buzz in early '92 with the song "Pain Lies On The Riverside" and their spot on MTV's 120 minutes tour. I liked the song but only bought the single. Then "Throwing Copper" came out. I hated it, to me it was generic, depressing, "I need a prozac", bland 90's rock. Yet it sold boatloads of copies at a time when I was working in music retail. However, 1994, to me, was a DISMAL year, and by this time I was done with the "Alternative" scene. Faves-Pain Lies On The Riverside, White Discussion. LL Cool J-I thought his MTV Unplugged performance was innovative and energetic. The accoustic band ROCKED! But I'm not into his usual type of rap. Lobo-Starring Claude Akins... Oh, you mean the SINGER! I like the hits, especially "Where Were You.....". Should pick up a collection soon. Boy, Little River Band was ahead of their time, shortening their name officially years before NKOTB! Yes, he produced some cuts. Ok, Kathy explained the Claude Akins joke, and I cracked up!!

Howdy again, Sat! Little Richard: Just could not "get it" back in my school days. But my brothers, especially "Fox" LOVED his music! At least he's exciting! Little River Band: Nice soft rock. Especially fond of Reminiscing. Live: Don't know too much except Lightning Crashes, that Oklahoma City bombing song. LL Cool J: Maybe a little too hardcore rap for me. 1995's "Hey Lover" with Boyz II Men wasn't too bad. Lobo: Yes, the best one here. His voice just screams "I need someone to enjoy my songs"! Very emotional, sympathetic, like he was singing just for me. Had no fewer than a dozen great tunes; pretty much his whole 45 catalog. BR Didn't realize that was what the Live song was about!

Little Richard - Like you, I don't really listen to him much, but I do like a few of his song and there's no denying the influence he's had on many artists. Faves: Keep a Knockin', Good Golly Miss Molly Little River Band - Love 'em! Faves: Reminiscing, Lonesome Loser Live - All Over You LL Cool J - That is so cute (about Skylar)! LOL! I always liked his style and music, and I watched him a few times when he had that show In The House. Faves: Mamma Said Knock You Out, Goin' Back to Cali Lobo - I'd Love You To Want Me Thank you!!

Little Richard--I don't listen to him much, but gotta respect him for his influence on other artists. And he's a funny guy. I love him on talk shows and award shows. Cracks me up! Little River Band--Love these guys. So many memories of listening to their music when I was a teen. Played "Sleeper Catcher" constantly. One of my favorite albums. Live--Really like Lightning Crashes, White/Discussion, and I Alone. Haven't listenend to anything by them in quite awhile though. LL Cool J--I thought about him last night when I was wondering who you might include today. However, I've never really listened to his music much. LOL! Funny story about Skylar, btw. The songs I do know of his I don't mind: Around the Way Girl, Goin' Back to Cali, and Mama Said Knock You Out. I've seen him in a few movies. He's not a bad actor. Lobo--More pleasant memories of my childhood. I listened to him a lot back in the day. Faves: A Simple Man, Me and You and a Dog Named Boo, She Didn't Do Magic, Don't Expect Me to Be Your Friend, It Sure Took a Long Long Time, Where Were You When I Was Falling in Love, I'd Love You to Want Me. Thinking about all these songs makes me want to hear 'em all again! Wow, you're a regular Lobo-Head!

And some more comments today! Little Richard--like Jerry Lee, had some of the best early rock 'n roll. Even more exciting than Jerry Lee, he's dynamite! I honestly felt James Brown copied his shouting antics. A force to be reckoned with. Faves: Tutti frutti Jenny Jenny (why my local oldies show didn't play this is beyond me) Long tall Sally Good golly Miss Molly Keep a knockin' Lucille Rip it up Slippin' and slidin' The girl can't help it Ready Teddy She's got it Miss Ann I'm sure others... Little River Band--almost a photo finish today for my fave artist of these five. But JUST not quite enough Wheaties. Anyway, I won their "Greatest Hits" on vinyl back in '83! Still plays well, but I prefer to play their selections on CD compilations. Of course, dislike any of their single edits, especially Reminiscing! Even got to see them in concert back in '92 (and yes, Peter Beckett of Player was there!)! Great guys, especially lead singer Glenn Shorrock and drummer Derek Policci. Faves: Reminiscing Cool change Help is on its way Lonesome loser The night owls The other guy Lady Take it easy on me Happy anniversary We two It's a long way there Man on your mind It's not a wonder Playing to win You're driving me out of my mind Down on the border If I get lucky Live--never a big fan, but "Lightning crashes" struck a nerve with me. Also like Selling the drama, White discussion, I alone, all over you (all from Throwing Copper), as well as Pain lies on the riverside, Lakini's juice, The dolphin's cry, and some recent tunes I forgot the titles of. LL Cool J--Until about '97, my fave rapper. (Will Smith! ) Couldn't care less about his last 2 albums; even '97's "Phenomenon" wasn't too great. But his first 6 were good! If Run DMC and Sugarhill Gang have shots for the Hall, so should LL. Honestly, can't say anything bad. Faves: The boomin' system I'm that type of guy I need love (If ever at karaoke, and that's NEVER-I could BELT this!) Pink cookies in a plastic bag getting crushed by buildings Loungin' (remix ONLY!) Go cut creator go Hey lover Goin' back to Cali Around the way girl Mama said knock you out I can't live without my radio Big ole butt Doin' it Back seat of my jeep Father Jinglin' baby Rock the bells Kanday Phenomenon 4,5,6 I'm bad A few others... (I have 4 cassettes of his ;D) Lobo--my fave here, and loved his music since being a toddler. EVERY song's super, have his Rhino compilation (does not include his later tunes like "Where were you...") and has such a passionate voice. Very overlooked today; also a superb songwriter. Faves: Long list! I'd love you to want me (Forever in my top 500) Country feelings/Me and you and a dog named Boo (sounds best together) Where were you when I was falling in love (Itching for this on CD!) Don't expect me to be your friend Standing at the end of the line (Why this only hit #37 and 7 weeks on the chart is WAAAAYYY beyond me--GREAT song) It sure took a long, long time A simple man Don't tell me goodnight How can I tell her Rings (Got the Allman Brothers on the stereo!) A big red kite She didn't do magic There ain't no way California kid and Reemo I'm the only one Holdin' on for dear love Would I still have you Love me for what I am We'll make it...I know we will

Luckily, I don't know that LL/J Lo song. Funny though-you know my story above about Skylar's pant leg? Once she had that, and her PJ's were unzipped a bit on top, so I called her LL Cool J-Lo! LMAO!!!! LMAO !!

Some more! Little Richard-Similar to Jerry Lee in that he didn't have a monstrous amount of huge hits, but was very influential and will be remembered also for his style and flamboyency. I mean, some of his songs, like Lucille and Ready Teddy, didn't even crack the top 20! But his stuff was so influential the Beatles AND Elvis covered him! Having said all that, he's not an artist I listen to (but still respect him). Faves-Keep a Knockin', Good Golly, Miss Molly, Lucille. Little River Band-Here is a band that I always liked their hits, but it took me years of listening to the Greatest Hits to realize, I LOVE this band! LOL! Never the type of group to be respected by the critics, I think they made pleasant Beatles-like pop (George Martin produced many records). Saw them twice at local fests (once got a bonus when the lead singer of Player was with them and they did Baby Come Back!). This was THE band in the late 70s, early 80s of AM pop! Faves-Lady, Reminiscing, Cool Change, Help is on it's Way, Lonesome Loser. Live-I really dug their Throwing Copper CD. Didn't hear much after that, other than The Dolphin Song, which was a decent tune. They didn't seem to get the exposure and airplay after Copper. They probably coulda been bigger. Faves-I Alone, Selling the Drama, All Over You. LL Cool J-In my attempt to include ALL types of music (especially because I am heavy on the country stuff), I am including LL. The biggest impact on my life is his style of wearing sweatpants. Whenever my daughter is wearing her PJ's, one pant leg always gets pushed up, and we call her LL. As far as his singing, I know three tunes, but don't think much of them. Just not my style. Fave-Mama Said Knock You Out (Which also reminds me of my daughter-when she was a couple months old, we used to make her box to the song! LOL!) Lobo-From that who singer/songwriter era. Pleasant inoffensive stuff. Nothing that will be remembered greatly. Funny how I know Where Were You.... which DIDN'T crack the top 20, but not his third top 10 hit! Faves-Where Were You When I Was Falling in Love, I'd Love You to Want Me, Me and You and a Dog Named Boo. And you? Little Richard - As are most, I am more familiar with his outlandish performing antics than his music. Still a good artist though. Fave - Good Golly Miss Molly Little River Band & Live - Not familiar with them. LL Cool J - The sweatpants thing always bothered me. There are still people at my school that do that because they think it looks cool, I guess. But it really gets on my nerves. As far as his music, eh. Fave - Mama Said Knock You Out Lobo - Not familiar with them.

OK, Sat. I Need to catch up on your posts.
Little Richard- I agree on the similarities to Jerry Lee, but mainly because I think they are both crazy! I do like most of Little Richards music, though. Faves are: Long Tall Sally, Rip It Up, Tutti Fruiti (the Pat Boone cover is so bad that it's funny), Lucille, Slippin and Slidin', Keep a Knockin.
Little River Band- Definitely under-rated. When I first heard of them, I thought they might have been a local group (there's a Little River Turnpike in Northern VA) then I heard they were from Australia. Faves include: Reminiscing, Lonesome Loser, Help Is On It's Way
Live- Don't really know them
LL Cool J- Driving to the metro this morning, I was behind a pickup that had a bumper sticker that read: "You can't spell Crap without Rap." Faves: None
Lobo- I always liked his music. Lite? Yeah. Innofensive? Yeah. But he had some songs that hit home at just the right time: Love You To Want Me, Don't Expect Me To Be Your Friend. Also like: "-Boo" Sure Took a Long Time, and How Can I Tell Her.

1.Little Richard-this guy(?) is a real stage presence!I like his energy and style...kinda like Liberace on speed. 2.Little River Band-I have always liked this band for their cool sound;Reminiscing is one of my all time favorite soft rock songs. 3.Live- 4.LL Cool J-the less said here, the better,I think 4.Lobo-not one of the huge groups, hit wise;Me and You and a Cat Named Boo is a cute song, though

Little Richard-He is semi-well-preserved for a man his age. Plays a mean piano, too! ;D Little River Band-I used to LOVE their music; however, it surprised no one any more than it did me when, the last time I heard any (Yesterday) I learned that I am now tired of their music. LL Cool J-Well, I know he’s a regular on one of the Law & Order spin-offs… The only song of his I know is, believe it or not, “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?”: It appeared on a CD we had when our kids were younger that had “Greatest Disney Hits” being covered by that infamous group, “Various Artists” You AND Skylar would love it! (I think) Lobo-I only remember “Me and You and a Dog Named Boo” (Which for SOME reason STILL reminds me of that other dog—“Arrow”)
