Another diverse group:
Kathy Mattea - I have heard of her. She has a nice voice. Just not into what she sang.
Kylie Minogue - not my style.
Missing Persons - **prepare for an Al anecdote** Al's first real live show was opening for Missing Persons. He had stuff thrown at him, and they were booed constantly. After the show, a little kid walked up to him, asked if he was Weird Al, and when he replied that he was, the kid says "YOU SUCK!". I do like Missing Persons. They were a bit odd, but had some great songs. Love "Words" and the one that I can't for the life of me think of the title of where she says "get away, run away, far away" unless that isn't them, but it way sounds like them.
Mr. Mister - Liked "Broken Wings" but found "Kyrie" a little too preachy for me, and when I said in school that I didn't like it, the kids gave me nasty looks and made comments about how could I not like it because it was taken from the bible. HELLO, that doens't mean I'm a satan worshipper and I automatically have to like it - in fact, he is using that phrase grammatically incorrectly, SO THERE SNOTTY KIDS!
Joni Mitchell - immensely talented, but not a big fan of what she put out herself. "Help Me" is ok, but really not a fan of "Big Yellow Taxi" in any of it's incarnations. One thing I did notice, is that inflation has hit the song big time, because it used to be $.25 to see the trees in the tree museum, and now it's up to $1.50.

[glow=red,2,300]Kathy Mattea- I haven't heard any of her songs for such a long time. 455 Rocket is one of my favorite country songs and if I recall it won best video for its year. It's a really cool song.
Kylie Minogue- I never cared for her much.
Missing Persons- I never heard anything they did.
Mr. Mister- Broken Wings is a good song....that's all I have heard by them.
Joni Mitchell- I have heard Big Yellow Taxi a few times, and that's all of hers I have heard. I don't like it that much.[/glow]

Forgive me! I got into country around 99, and she was not making hits or getting much airplay at that point. 99? Really? Hmm.

Ok, what does Hmmmmmm mean? LOL! Oh, it's just that you're such a big country fan, I figured you'd been with the genre longer than that! So, I'm assuming it was Martina that got you turned on to country?

Missing Persons - Destination Unknown
Mr. Mister - Ooooweee, what a cutie (lead singer)!! I Loooooooooved 'em. Faves: Kyrie, Broken Wings, Is It Love
Joni Mitchell - Gotta agree about her legendary status and impressive songwriting. Faves: Big Yellow Taxi

Kathy Mattea--I've heard a couple of hers, 18 wheels isn't that bad!
Kylie Minogue--WOOOO HOOOO!!!!!! My fave today! And Jug KNOWS I'm quite a fan as well! Absolutely LOVED her internationally big debut album in 1988-89 (*BIG thanks to Stock, Aiken, Waterman). And why she faltered in America after that is WAY beyond me. A most surprsing comeback in 2002! And a GREAT breath of fresh air against all the alternative and rap trash! Super lady, great feel-good sound, she's a SCREAM dream!!! Faves: Boy (only available on early North American pressings on the "Fever" CD--I LOVE this forever! "Come on, get your hands up!") Can't get you out of my head (21st century techno meets 80's high school idol-WOOOWWW!) I should be so lucky (When I first heard this, I thought, "Yep! The female equivalent of Rick Astley"!) The loco-motion Love at first sight (also the same title appeared on her '88 album, this is the 2002 hit) It's no secret Got to be certain In your eyes Wouldn't change a thing Tears on my pillow Dancefloor Shocked Come into my life Je ne sais pas pourquoi More more more Many others, especially from her first and most recent albums...
Missing Persons--My fave 80's band without a top 4o hit. Great new wave sound from the times. "Spring Session M" should secure a place in my top 500 albums. Dale is SOOOOOO hot! Of course, have the CD. Faves: Destination unknown Words Walking in L.A. Windows Mental hopscotch No way out Hello I love you Give Rock and roll suspension All fall down Color in your life
Mr. Mister--Strange history. Had a flop album, then a HUGE album, then ended with another flop. Sad. All 3 albums were great. "Real world" is a good album, but almost too overrated. A fine page of the 80's soundtrack. Faves: Kyrie (single edit--ends a capella) Broken wings (long ending only!) Something real (Yep-one of 1987's most underrated) Is this love Hunters of the night
Joni Mitchell--As I grow older, I have really come to appreciate her music. I especially LOVE (and have much sympathy) for "Taxi". Absolutely fine singing/songwriting talent. Faves: Help me Big yellow taxi (love the laugh!) Free man in Paris You turn me on, I'm a radio Chelsea morning Raised on robbery Carey Woostock The circle game Yep, and like Dawn, I haven't heard "You're so square" since late '82--heard it maybe 25 times in a 2 week period, then never heard it again. That's 80's radio for you.

A good list here. Always liked Mr. Mister, especially the song "Kyrie". I wanted to go see 'em when they were at Six Flags back in '86 or thereabouts, but we wound up going out of town that week. I read the review of the concert in the paper, and it basically dismissed them as a bunch of lightweight teeny-bopper idols. Oh well. I still like them. I do think "Broken Wings" got waaaay overplayed when it was popular (as most songs do *lol), but I still like it.

I love that song myself, but it's ok by me if you don't. You don't have to automatically like ANYTHING. *lol* Not sure about the grammatical incorrectness, but I think their pronunciation might be wrong--in the song it's "ky-ree" and I think it's supposed to be "ky-re-ay", right? Still like the song, though.

Still like the song, though. I was tired when I wrote that. Anyway, what I meant is that he uses the term incorrectly, kind of. The full phrase is Kyrie Eleison. It's meaning is: "May god be with me during my travels" (as told to me by my church pastor). Taking their lyrics, it sounds like: May god be with me during my travels down the road I must travel, may god be with me during my travels through the darkness of the night, may god be with me through my travels where I'm going will you follow, may god be with me through my travels on a highway in the light. But my biggest gripe is not with Mr. Mister at all, but rather the snotty kids who ran home from school every day to watch Dial MTV and then gagued their favorite groups by who was number 1 for the day. I seriously remember them bouncing one year from the B52's to Guns and Roses to INXS to Metallica.....these were kids who made fun of the Metallica fans in years past. I was made fun of for many years for listening to The Doors and The Beatles, then all of a sudden everyone wants to borrow my records?
