Just another day.....
Runaways-Kitty wanted me to list these gals. The only tune I know is Cherry Bomb. Very cool song. Will they ever get acknowledged for influenced punk bands like L7, Donnas, Hole, that came after them? Who knows. Velvet Underground gets acknowledged, but these other bands can't. I think Lou Reed is sleeping with someone. Fave-Cherry Bomb.
Bobby Sherman-Dave wanted this guy. To be honest, I only know Little Woman. Didn't hear this lightweight bubblegum teen idol stuff growing up. Dismissable. Fave-Little Woman.
Joe Simon-Another Dave request. I don't know, I THINK I know Get Down, Get Down. Otherwise, don't know him. Fave-none.
Paul Simon-I'm sorry, but I don't think much of him or his earlier duo. In the Hall, fine. I don't argue it. But I personally find his style to be pretty bland. But I know he had lots of hits, and his songwriting is respected. Just nothing I like to hear really. HATE Me & Julio, Graceland. Faves-50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, Loves Me Like a Rock, Kodachrome.
Simon & Garfunkel-Again, I don't think much of them. A tad overrated if you ask me. Sorta boring. Sounds of Silence and Bridge of Troubled Water absolutely put me to sleep. How the latter was number 1 for 6 weeks blows my mind. Understand why they are in the Hall, just don't listen to them. Faves-My Little Town (I actually DO like this one a lot), Cecilia, At the Zoo.
And you?

The Runaways - Thanks for including them Sat! My cousin Annie introduced me to these girls in 1980. I thought they were so damn cool. The music still holds up for me today. It's great for driving really fast! Faves: C'mon, Cherry Bomb, I Love Playin' WIth Fire (Lita Ford's guitar on this track smokes!! ), Take It Or Leave It, Saturday Night Special, Little Sister, Waitin For The Night Bobby Sherman - I never thought he was cute. I guess there are a couple of songs by him that I enjoy, but I hate "Julie Do You Love Me". Blech. I bet you're familiar with more of his songs than you know. Faves: Easy Come Easy Go, Sounds Along The Way, La La La Joe Simon - Don't know him Paul Simon - I like a lot of his early solo stuff, not so much of his big breakout "you can call me Al" period. My mother adores him so I'm familiar with a bunch of his solo work. Faves: Kodachrome, Loves Me Like A Rock, Still Crazy After All These Years, 50 Ways To Leave..., Late In The Evening, Slip Slidin' Away, Mother & Child Reunion Simon & Garfunkel - Many childhood memories connected to S&G tunes. Especially "Punky's Dilemma" which my mom would sing to me as a lullaby/feel better kind of song. Anyway, I agree that "Bridge Over..." is overrated. Although I LOVE Aretha Franklin's version of it. Art's voice can also sometimes be a little cloying but whatever. Faves: Punky's Dilemma, The Boxer, America, Fakin' It, Homeward Bound, My Little Town

Runaways-I know of them, the whole Joan/Lita thing, but I don't know their music.
Bobby Sherman-My mom had his Christmas album. I don't mind some of his hits, light bubblegum, pre-Osmond era.
Joe Simon-I have some of his hits on those "Didn't it Blow Your Mind: Soul Hits Of The 70's" CD's. I think his biggest was "Power Of Love". The one I really like is "(Theme From) Cleopatra Jones", a top 20 hit that nobody who was around then seems to remember.
Paul Simon-The night I saw (and met) Brian Wilson he was opening for Paul Simon (should've been the other way around, don't you agree?) My girlfriend and I were so bored during Paul Simon's set we ended up walking around the concession stands talking to other Brian fans until the show ended. Paul Simon is SUCH an egomaniac, did you ever notice how he HATES it when other artists cover his songs? What a jerk! With that said, he did a few songs I like. Faves: Slip Slidin' Away, Late In The Evening, One Trick Pony, Mother And Child Reunion, 50 Ways.......
Simon & Garfunkle-I like them better as a duo than either of them solo. I have the "Collected Works" box set, which contains all 5 albums on 3 CDs. So I have all I need by them. "Bookends" was by far their best album together. Fave: Fakin' It (I don't know WHY I like this so much..)

Runaways - Hmm...heard of em, but don't really know anything. What can I say? I've led a sheltered life.
Bobby Sherman - Don't know any songs. Well, I probably do, just don't place the songs with his name.
Joe Simon - Now I can say I really don't know.
Paul Simon - Great songwriter, but I'm kind of with you on the bland thing. He's alright.
Simon & Garfunkel - Had some great tunes, but all a little on the boring side. I guess they're soothing or something. Faves - Mrs. Robinson, Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Nice variety! Thanks again with my requests.
Runaways--Trendsetting girl punk band. May investigate. Faves: Cherry bomb I love playin' with fire American nights Queens of noise You drive me wild
Bobby Sherman--Did a fine live show many years ago. Sure, he gets the chicks, but that doesn't mean I can like his music too! ;D Harmless, fun tunes, some with an outpouring of emotion. Joe Simon--He's not only one of the higher ranking R & B singers, but ranks among the rock era's top 200 POP singers as well! An impressive 31 HOT 100 hits, yet only 8 of them reached the top 40. 3 of those 8 are included on Rhino's "Blow your mind" series. Runaways - I've heard a lot about this group, but I don't think I'm familiar with any of their songs.
Bobby Sherman - Fun early 70's pop. I remember my cousin had a record of his that came from a cereal box. I probably would have had a big crush on him if I'd been a few years older. Favorites: Easy Come, Easy Go, La La La, Cried Like a Baby.
Joe Simon - Good soul singer, but very overlooked on the radio nowadays. Favorites: Power of Love, Drowning in the Sea of Love, Get Down, Get Down.
Paul Simon - I really enjoy his music for the most part, but like you I'm not particularly fond of 'Julio'. A very talented singer and songwriter. Favorites: 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, Kodachrome, Mother and Child Reunion, Slip Slidin' Away, Loves Me Like a Rock, Late in the Evening.
Simon & Garfunkel - Like Kitty, I have a lot of childhood memories associated with their songs. I have their original greatest hits LP, but would like to get a more complete compilation someday. Favorites: My Little Town (love it!), Cecelia, At the Zoo, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Scarborough Fair, America, The Boxer.

Blah, not much to input today. I do have some requests for future lists though: I'll spare you and others the grief of having to review Shaggy, Sisqo or Britney Spears (dangerously hot but honestly would not win a Karaoke contest in even the sleaziest roadhouse). However, I'd really like to review Smashmouth and Sugar Ray please! The Runaways : Influential hard rocking teenaged girl group of the late 70's. Alumni included Joan Jett and Lita Ford. These girls rocked, looked good, and most of them could kick my arse (and I'm NOT a puny guy!). Don't know any of their songs well enough to pick a favorite. I've only heard clips. They were good though! Bobby Sherman : Let's just move on to the next artist.... Joe Simon : Heard of him, don't remember any of his music. Paul Simon : Awesome songwriter and a pretty good singer. Much prefer him solo than with Garfunkel. Favorites include: 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover You Can Call Me Al Kodachrome Late In the Evening Slip Sliding Away Loves Me Like a Rock Wonderful World Simon and Garfunkel : I just DON'T like them as a duo. The songs were too melancholy and bland to me. Bridge Over Troubled Water is a great song and Art really impresses me on it but I never cared for it personally. Again, I can be objective enough to agree that they deserved their Hall election. Not my can of Coke though... Favorites = The Sounds of Silence, Cecelia, Mrs. Robinson

The Runaways - We had the Queen of Noise album in the house - I think it was my brother's girlfriend's (now wife) I read quite a bit about them at the time but the only songs I know are Cherry Bomb and School Days which I have on CD.
Faves - School Days and Cherry Bomb
Bobby Sherman - He's now a paramedic - wow! - Remember seeing him on The Partridge Family back in the 70's . The only two songs I know are - Julie Do You Love Me? ( have it on CD) and Easy Come Easy Go.
Joe Simon - The only tune of his I know is The Power of Love
Faves - Power of Love
Paul Simon - I love many of his solo hits - Love the drumming on "50 Ways" - played by the great Steve Gadd. We had the 45 of Love Me Like a Rock in the house, it was the first tune I heard of Paul's. Love his duet with George Harrison on SNL.
Faves - Love Me Like a Rock , Slip Slidin' Away , Kodachrome , Still Crazy After All These Years ,Mother and Child Reunion and 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover.
Simon and Garfunkel - Like so many of their songs. Remember hearing Bridge Over Troubled Waters when I was very little . I have the old Greatest Hits on vinyl plus a few 45's , still haven't upgraded to CD . I love Art's vocal on For Emily Whenever I May Find Her - superb!
Faves - Fakin' It , America , I am a Rock , Mrs . Robinson, Cecila , Bride Over Troubled Waters , Sounds Of Silence, At The Zoo , Homeward Bound , For Emily Whenever I May Find Her , The Boxer, Scarborough Fair and Hazy Shade of Winter

The Runaways--I don't think I knew of them when they were "around". It was only after I became a fan of Joan Jett that I found out about The Runaways. I have since found Queens of Noise and Waiting for the Night on vinyl. I also have one of those on CD, but I'd have to go look to remember which one it is, and I don't feel like it right now. LOL! Lots of good tunes, and very influential to a lot of the rock n roll grrrls of today. Rock on Joan and Lita! Bobby Sherman--He was #3 on my "Big 3" crushes when I was a teeny bopper. (David and Donny were my top 2). Had all his albums, had posters of him on my wall, and I think I even kept a scrapbook of him for awhile. I always thought he looked like a nice guy. Lots of faves: Easy Come, Easy Go, Little Woman, The Drum, Cried Like a Baby, Jennifer, Early In the Morning, Julie Do You Love Me, Hey Mister Sun, Getting Together, Seattle, lots more... Joe Simon--No clue. Paul Simon--Has a tendancy to be a little on the boring side, but there are quite a few songs of his I enjoy. Faves: Still Crazy after All These Years, 50 Ways, Slip Slidin' Away, Mother And Child Reunion, Kodachrome, Loves Me Like a Rock, Late in the Evening (LOVE it), Gone at Last (w/Phoebe Snow). Simon and Garfunkel--Love them. Overrated? Nah. I think they deserve all the credit they get. Just my opinion. Faves: The Sounds of Silence, I Am a Rock, Homeward Bound, The Boxer, Old Friends/Bookends, A Hazy Shade of Winter, My Little Town, At the Zoo, The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy), Mrs. Robinson, Bridge Over Troubled Water (love it), El Condor Pasa (Love it), Cecelia, Keep the Customer Satisfied, so many more...

1 - Runaways - ?
2. Bobby Sherman - Teen age bubblegum kind of music that populated the charts in the early 70s. Now an LA County EMS guy, there is life after teen idol. Favorites: Little Woman, Easy Come, Easy Go
3. Joe Simon - Pretty good soul singer. Favorites: Your Time to Cry, Drowning in the Sea of Love, Power of Love.
4. Paul Simon - Didn't do to bad as a solo artist. I liked most of what he did. Favorites: Me & Julio, Kodachrome, 50 ways to Leave Your Lover, Still Crazy, Slip Slidin' Away, Graceland.
5. Simon & Garfunkel - One of the top two or three male duets ever. I never get tired of listening to their oldies. Wish they would kiss & make up & start singing together again. Favorites: I Am A Rock, Sounds of Silence, Scarborough Fair, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, My Little Town, The Boxer, Mrs. Robinson, Homeward Bound, America.

........for you and me in paradise. Oh, think twice, cause it's another day for you.....OOPS! Anyway..... Runaways - my husband has the cd. Bought it at the used cd place for like $3. I've heard bits and pieces of it. It's ok. Bobby Sherman - Ew. I did like his preformance on the Monkees episode "Monkees At The Movies". It's one of their best, and they totally trash him! Joe Simon - Paul Simon - he seems like he falls in to the take it or leave it bracket with a lot of people. I'll take it. Love him. Can't imagine him married to Edie Brickell, though. She's my age, and he's my dad's age. I also love Edie Brickell. Favorites: 50 Ways, Late In The Evening, Kodachrome, You Can Call Me Al, Rene and Georgette Magurite, Slip Slidin Away, Still Crazy After All These Years Simon and Garfunkel - Love them too. I have their boxed set. Lots of good tunes! Favorites: I Am A Rock, El Condor Paso, Sounds Of Silence, 59th Street Bridge Song, Homeward Bound, My Little Town, The Boxer, Bookends
