Runaways - I've heard a lot about this group, but I don't think I'm familiar with any of their songs. Bobby Sherman - Fun early 70's pop. I remember my cousin had a record of his that came from a cereal box. I probably would have had a big crush on him if I'd been a few years older. Favorites: Easy Come, Easy Go, La La La, Cried Like a Baby. Joe Simon - Good soul singer, but very overlooked on the radio nowadays. Favorites: Power of Love, Drowning in the Sea of Love, Get Down, Get Down. Paul Simon - I really enjoy his music for the most part, but like you I'm not particularly fond of 'Julio'. A very talented singer and songwriter. Favorites: 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, Kodachrome, Mother and Child Reunion, Slip Slidin' Away, Loves Me Like a Rock, Late in the Evening. Simon & Garfunkel - Like Kitty, I have a lot of childhood memories associated with their songs. I have their original greatest hits LP, but would like to get a more complete compilation someday. Favorites: My Little Town (love it!), Cecelia, At the Zoo, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Scarborough Fair, America, The Boxer. There is a decent single disc collection out that now includes My Little Town.

Blah, not much to input today. I do have some requests for future lists though: I'll spare you and others the grief of having to review Shaggy, Sisqo or Britney Spears (dangerously hot but honestly would not win a Karaoke contest in even the sleaziest roadhouse). However, I'd really like to review Smashmouth and Sugar Ray please! The Runaways : Influential hard rocking teenaged girl group of the late 70's. Alumni included Joan Jett and Lita Ford. These girls rocked, looked good, and most of them could kick my arse (and I'm NOT a puny guy!). Don't know any of their songs well enough to pick a favorite. I've only heard clips. They were good though! Bobby Sherman : Let's just move on to the next artist.... Joe Simon : Heard of him, don't remember any of his music. Paul Simon : Awesome songwriter and a pretty good singer. Much prefer him solo than with Garfunkel. Favorites include: 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover You Can Call Me Al Kodachrome Late In the Evening Slip Sliding Away Loves Me Like a Rock Wonderful World Simon and Garfunkel : I just DON'T like them as a duo. The songs were too melancholy and bland to me. Bridge Over Troubled Water is a great song and Art really impresses me on it but I never cared for it personally. Again, I can be objective enough to agree that they deserved their Hall election. Not my can of Coke though... Favorites = The Sounds of Silence, Cecelia, Mrs. Robinson Sure, I'll add them in, and even Britney! I would have anyway. Yeah, I have a feeling The Runaways more than handled themselves back then.

The Runaways - We had the Queen of Noise album in the house - I think it was my brother's girlfriend's (now wife) I read quite a bit about them at the time but the only songs I know are Cherry Bomb and School Days which I have on CD. Faves - School Days and Cherry Bomb Bobby Sherman - He's now a paramedic - wow! - Remember seeing him on The Partridge Family back in the 70's . The only two songs I know are - Julie Do You Love Me? ( have it on CD) and Easy Come Easy Go. Joe Simon - The only tune of his I know is The Power of Love Faves - Power of Love Paul Simon - I love many of his solo hits - Love the drumming on "50 Ways" - played by the great Steve Gadd. We had the 45 of Love Me Like a Rock in the house, it was the first tune I heard of Paul's. Love his duet with George Harrison on SNL. Faves - Love Me Like a Rock , Slip Slidin' Away , Kodachrome , Still Crazy After All These Years ,Mother and Child Reunion and 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover. Simon and Garfunkel - Like so many of their songs. Remember hearing Brigde Over Troubled Waters when I was very little . I have the old Greatest Hits on vinyl plus a few 45's , still haven't upgraded to CD . I love Art's vocal on For Emily Whenever I May Find Her - superb! Faves - Fakin' It , America , I am a Rock , Mrs . Robinson, Cecila , Bride Over Troubled Waters , Sounds Of Silence, At The Zoo , Homeward Bound , For Emily Whenever I May Find Her , The Boxer, Scarborough Fair and Hazy Shade of Winter Actually the drums are quite cool on 50 Ways.

The Runaways--I don't think I knew of them when they were "around". It was only after I became a fan of Joan Jett that I found out about The Runaways. I have since found Queens of Noise and Waiting for the Night on vinyl. I also have one of those on CD, but I'd have to go look to remember which one it is, and I don't feel like it right now. LOL! Lots of good tunes, and very influential to a lot of the rock n roll grrrls of today. Rock on Joan and Lita! Bobby Sherman--He was #3 on my "Big 3" crushes when I was a teeny bopper. (David and Donny were my top 2). Had all his albums, had posters of him on my wall, and I think I even kept a scrapbook of him for awhile. I always thought he looked like a nice guy. Lots of faves: Easy Come, Easy Go, Little Woman, The Drum, Cried Like a Baby, Jennifer, Early In the Morning, Julie Do You Love Me, Hey Mister Sun, Getting Together, Seattle, lots more... Joe Simon--No clue. Paul Simon--Has a tendancy to be a little on the boring side, but there are quite a few songs of his I enjoy. Faves: Still Crazy after All These Years, 50 Ways, Slip Slidin' Away, Mother And Child Reunion, Kodachrome, Loves Me Like a Rock, Late in the Evening (LOVE it), Gone at Last (w/Phoebe Snow). Simon and Garfunkel--Love them. Overrated? Nah. I think they deserve all the credit they get. Just my opinion. Faves: The Sounds of Silence, I Am a Rock, Homeward Bound, The Boxer, Old Friends/Bookends, A Hazy Shade of Winter, My Little Town, At the Zoo, The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy), Mrs. Robinson, Bridge Over Troubled Water (love it), El Condor Pasa (Love it), Cecelia, Keep the Customer Satisfied, so many more... So you love S&G, but Paul solo is boring?

1 - Runaways - ? 2. Bobby Sherman - Teen age bubblegum kind of music that populated the charts in the early 70s. Now an LA County EMS guy, there is life after teen idol. Favorites: Little Woman, Easy Come, Easy Go 3. Joe Simon - Pretty good soul singer. Favorites: Your Time to Cry, Drowning in the Sea of Love, Power of Love. 4. Paul Simon - Didn't do to bad as a solo artist. I liked most of what he did. Favorites: Me & Julio, Kodachrome, 50 ways to Leave Your Lover, Still Crazy, Slip Slidin' Away, Graceland. 5. Simon & Garfunkel - One of the top two or three male duets ever. I never get tired of listening to their oldies. Wish they would kiss & make up & start singing together again. Favorites: I Am A Rock, Sounds of Silence, Scarborough Fair, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, My Little Town, The Boxer, Mrs. Robinson, Homeward Bound, America. So weird to think he is an EMS guy now.

........for you and me in paradise. Oh, think twice, cause it's another day for you.....OOPS! Anyway..... Runaways - my husband has the cd. Bought it at the used cd place for like $3. I've heard bits and pieces of it. It's ok. Bobby Sherman - Ew. I did like his preformance on the Monkees episode "Monkees At The Movies". It's one of their best, and they totally trash him! Joe Simon - Paul Simon - he seems like he falls in to the take it or leave it bracket with a lot of people. I'll take it. Love him. Can't imagine him married to Edie Brickell, though. She's my age, and he's my dad's age. I also love Edie Brickell. Favorites: 50 Ways, Late In The Evening, Kodachrome, You Can Call Me Al, Rene and Georgette Magurite, Slip Slidin Away, Still Crazy After All These Years Simon and Garfunkel - Love them too. I have their boxed set. Lots of good tunes! Favorites: I Am A Rock, El Condor Paso, Sounds Of Silence, 59th Street Bridge Song, Homeward Bound, My Little Town, The Boxer, Bookends A bad Phil Collins song reference, alright! I totally don't remember Bobby on the Monkees. What was the episode about? What songs were on it? I think you are exaggerating Edie's age a bit, unless she was 15 when What I Am came out!

Nah, you aren't sheltered. I've seen only brief clips of the Runaways and heard Cherry Bomb on a compilation album. Well, I can't be too sheltered if one of my favorite actresses is Agnes Moorehead, now can I?

Runaways - Don't know them at all.
Bobby Sherman - The typical good-looking TV star ("Here Come The Brides") who rode his looks, TV fame, and badly off-key voice to pinup status on the wall of every nine-year old girl's bedroom. The only song that he ever sang that I liked at all was "Julie Do Ya Love Me", which is not a good song at all, but there was this girl named Julie .....
Joe Simon - I really like Drowning in the Sea of Love. Get Down Get On the Floor is not bad. That's it.
Paul Simon - Didn't care as much for him as a solo artist as I did for the S&G stuff. I recognize his writing talent, but didn't like many of his songs. Faves: You Can Call Me Al, Mother and Child Reunion, Late In The Evening. Loves Me Like A Rock.
Simon and Garfunkel - I once worked with a guy who claimed that he went to school with a guy named Rubenstein who was once part of a trio called Simon Garfunkel and Rubenstein. -- and after they got rid of Rubenstein........... I don't know if I believe that or not. But I do know that S&G first recorded under the name of "Tom and Jerry" and had a minor hit called "Hey Schoolgirl". As for my fave S&G songs, there are several: Bridge Over Troubled Water (All time top 250; don't care how many times they play it.), Sounds Of Silence (loved it from the first day I heard it in '65; also top 250) Mrs. Robinson, I Am A Rock, A Winters Day, Fakin' It, At The Zoo, Homeward Bound, The Boxer--- and Hey Schoolgirl.

A bad Phil Collins song reference, alright! I totally don't remember Bobby on the Monkees. What was the episode about? What songs were on it? I think you are exaggerating Edie's age a bit, unless she was 15 when What I Am came out! Tryin' to make you smile, SAT! Anway, that ep of the Monkees is IMHO one of their best! It's my husband's favorite. It is a first season show, and very well written with a lot of good one-liners and memorable dialogue bits. Here's a link to a great website that sums it up better than I ever could, and has a pic to boot: monkeestv2.tripod.com/season1/movies.htmlAnd BTW, I was 16, and I believe (If memory from VH1 serves correctly) Edie was 19.

Well, I appreciate the effort. Is the blond Bobby? So you were born in 72? That first album was 88. Yep - the blond is Bobby. When the 2nd season dvd set comes out, I'll have to make you a videotape. I've got some way cool stuff in my collection. I've got about 10 8-hour videotapes chock full of stuff from over the years. This episode is my husbands very favorite, and the one we watched first when we brought the DVD set home. Some of the stuff they do to Frankie (Bobby) is absolutely hilarious! Well, memory failed me a bit, I guess. I was born in 1973, but I distinctly remember getting the tape the summer I came home from Europe which would have been '89. I don't doubt it was released in '88 but I don't think the hits came until a little later, but I could be wrong. The first time I ever saw/heard her was on Saturday Night Live.

Bobby Sherman-I am proud to say he is a sheriff in the "lovely" county of San Bernardino, CA (That is MY county. ) and has been since 1999. Sadly, he was NOT the sheriff who I found standing inside my house the night I accidentally dialed 911. (*sigh*) I never knew until I checked his website that he had records released as early as 1962 (What was he then? 11?? 12??) I received two of his records--courtesy of my friends at Super Sugar Crisp. (Note: It was " Sugar", not "Golden" in those days) Too bad I don't have them anymore. (But how was I supposed to know I shoulda saved those?? ) Anyway my faves are Hey Little Woman, Julie, and Easy Come, Easy Go I like Seattle, too but I think I remember Perry's version the best. Also liked him on... Brides (Here They Come. ;D) Paul Simon-I'm sorry, but I don't think much of him.." I agree! I really can't stand him, actually. Plus, of the two I always thought Garfunkle was the more talented anyway. Simon & Garfunkel->> Sounds of Silence and Bridge of Troubled Water absolutely put me to sleep. How the latter was number 1 for 6 weeks blows my mind. << Try living in the era when Bridge was on the radio ALL THE TIME! But I can actually now listen to Bridge and even like it once a (Very) big blue moon. I still like "Sounds" (And, like "Iron Man" it usually reminds me of Junior High Choir because those were two of the songs that always seemed to be playing every time it was time for class. LOL!)
