Johnnie Taylor - I know Who's Making Love & Disco Lady, that's about it.

Temptation - Legends. Grew up listening to their music and never got tired of it. Maybe they were just hanging on their at the end in 1974 & 1975, but before that, did just a wide variety of great love songs and social songs. Great group. Favorites; My Girl, Get Ready, Ain't Too Proud To Beg, Cloud Nine, Ball of Confusion, Just My Imagination, Papa Was a Rolling Stone.

10cc - Pretty good British group, know two of the three hits, plus Dreadlock Holiday. Got something on vinyl by them, but haven't pulled it out in years.

10,000 Maniacs - ?

Tesla - Here them on the classic rock station every so often, just don't know any songs other than Signs.

Johnnie Taylor - The name is familiar but I can't think of any songs by him.

Temptations - Legends for sure. Although I like The Four Topa and The Spinners better. Definitely some classics under their belts. Faves: Can't Get Next To You, Papa Was A Rollin Stone (great bass!), I'm Gonna Make You Love Me (w/ Supremes)

10cc - "Im Not In Love" is in my top 100 songs. Amazing! They've had ther songs that I dug as well. Faves: I'm Not In Love, Things We Do For Love, People In Love, Art for Art's Sake

10,000 Maniacs - With the exception of one or two songs, I dislike this band. Natalie Merchant's voice kind of bugs me. The In My Tribe[\i] album produced the only songs that I like of theirs. Faves: Verdi Cries, City of Angels

Tesla - "Love Song" is in my top 5 power ballads of all time. I just love it. Their other stuff has always been hit and mostly miss for me though. Faves: Love Song, Little Suzi, What You Give

The Temptations - Awesome Motown Legends. I heard Papa was a Rolling Stone many times as a kid. I picked up the 70's Anthology collection on vinyl a few months back.I have a few tunes on cassette as well.

10cc - Fantastic 70's pop! Love so many of their tunes.Heard them lots as a kid. I have Deceptive Bends and the live album Live and Let Live on vinyl. The albums were always recorded so well.


Faves - I'm Not In Love , The Things We Do For Love , Good Morning Judge , People In Love , Dreadlock Holiday , Wallstreet Shuffle , Marriage Bureau Rendevous and You've Got a Cold


10,000 Maniacs - Never paid much attention . I think I 've heard their cover of Because The Night a couple of Times though.

Tesla - The only tune of their's that I can recall is their cover of Signs . Thought it was good although the original is better

Temptations- It's groups like the Temps that made Johnny Taylor second tier. This group, despite all their ups and downs, members in and out, drinking and drugs... were a SUPER group. Were they the best? Maybe. You could put Smokey up there and maybe the 4 Tops, but that's it. Some of the songs by the David Ruffin version of the group were so beautiful they could bring a tear to your eyes. The Eddie Kendricks songs were mighty fine also. Faves: My Girl (Top 250; I don't care HOW many times they play it), Just My Imagination (Top 250), The Way You Do The Things You Do, Papa Was A Rolling Stone, I Wish It Would Rain, Beauty Is Only Skin Deep, Ain't Too Proud To Beg, All I Need, I Can't Get Next To You, I Know I'm Losing You, Get Ready, It's Summer, Masterpiece.

10cc-I only know their two big hits (I'm Not In Love, The Things We Do for Love (wo-oh) ) Like them both.

10,000 Maniacs- Heard of them and Natalie, but don't know their music.

Tesla- The only Tesla I know was the Tesla Coil I used in Grad School to look for leaks in my high vacuum line.

Johnnie Taylor--surprisingly, almost a 3-way tie for me here today. His passing on May 31, 2000 got VERY little mentiom, and so unfair. Truly just about Stax Records' most prolific and best artist ever (way more singles than Sam & Dave, Eddie Floyd, or even Booker T.). It's time more "average" OLDIES fans get into his music and not just leave it for the aging urban crowd. A wonderful artist. A shame "Disco Lady" seems to be on VERY few CD compilations (I have it on Sony's R & B 2-CD set from late 1999.), let alone one of the 70's most forgotten #1's.

Temptations--Perhaps mostly on their legendary status and their tremendous hit output (as well as still being around), I have to say they're my fave today. But their 2 "Big chill" songs get so annoying to me, I've never loved them a lot. It may not be a surprise that among my faves of them are some of their least remembered. But most major Motown acts I like a LOT better (PLEASE forgive me Rali, if you're reading this... ). Then the California Raisins Persona just made me like them even less. But I can't deny their wonderful legacy, and I even liked their movie.

Tesla--Major YUCK. One of the worst hard rock bands. Could not understand it. You're NO 5 Man Electrical Band!!! Cheesy "love songs" (no pun intended) to say the least. Even one song made me DETEST the word "Give" for a time. The only PASSABLE one I like is an early one, "Modern Day cowboy", yet their competing rock radio tune, "Little Suzi" hit the chart. OH PLEASE!!!

I hope Boogie has a good vacation too, and he hinted on a like soul artist I want to see her Monday.

Temptations-I've always enjoyed the Motown groups, and though I like the Four Tops better, the Tempts did some GREAT records regardless of their ever-changing line-up. Sad that most of them are now gone..

10,000 Maniacs-I really don't like Natalie Merchant.. Like I said in her solo entry, her voice is like a female Eddie Vedder. But I did like "Trouble Me"

Tesla-I like them, can't see why they are so disliked here.. They were more "good ol' rock 'n roll" than "Hair band". They didn't wear makeup or hairspray, and they wore jeans instead of spandex. First two albums were pretty good, "5 Man Accoustic Jam" was refreshing at a time when rock was all screaming guitars and solos. And I liked the singer's voice.

I happen to like their unplugged album. But you have a right to your own opinion. I don't think I've ever heard "More Than This" in ANY version (who did it originally, anyway?). The title doesn't ring a bell. But it must have gotten SOME airplay, in order for someone to have gotten sick of it. *lol* So I might recognize it if I heard it.

I didn't like the Tesla version of "Signs" at first, but it grew on me after a while. I still like the original version better, but I like Tesla's version a lot now. Some remakes are like that--they take a while to grow on me.

I've never heard the Maniacs' take on More Than This either!

10cc - I love the two hits you mentioned, and both of them bring back a lot of memories for me as well. I also have the 45 of 'People in Love', but it's been a while since I've listed to it. You're right about 'I'm Not in Love' - I can't stand that edited version.

For some strange reason, they seem to have not appeared on Hullabaloo (At least not on the DVDs I own) but I did manage to find a couple of cool things when I was using Kaaza:

One is an acapella version of them singing *My Girl* and the other was a performance of them singing it on "Shindig". One really cool thing, imo, is that their piano player added a few extra bonus notes during the interlude of the song. LOVE it!!!

I just never get tired of their music! ;D

That acapella & Shindig performance have to be too cool!
