I prefer Pink Floyd, mainly because I'm more familiar with their music. "Wish You Were Here" is my favorite Floyd album, with "The Wall" in second place. I got to see them in concert a few years back...actually, the only original member in the band was David Gilmore...nevertheless, it was a good concert.
I'm starting to like and appreciate Led Zepplin's music. However, I've seen some of their live shows on video and I hate to say it, but I wasn't that impressed with their live preformance. They sounded sloppy. I prefer their studio work. I wish the radio stations here would stop playing all their "signature" hits..."Stairway To Heaven"...and play songs like "Tangerine".

I 'm kind of burnt out on both bands thanks to the heavy rotation both recieve on classic rock radio. I have to be in a certain mood to listen to them .
Now having said that I do appreciate them as musicians - David Gilmour is a great guitar player and John Bonham was an outstanding drummer and I have to admit that I was very impressed with the new Live Zep DVD that came out a few months ago . I remember a buddy of mine going through a Zeppelin phase in high school playing their albums constantly.

I'd have to go with Pink Floyd as well. I like just about everything I've heard of theirs, and I think their songwriting and musicianship are exceptionally strong. Dark Side of the Moon is my favorite album of theirs - it's top-notch from beginning to end.
I do enjoy some of Led Zeppelin's music, but overall, not as much as Pink Floyd's.

Another good "comparison" post! Tough one, but gotta say Floyd. Better songwriting, and on the average, a little more relaxed, yet not over "sombulent" (if that's a word). Yet I can't count out "Stairway" as a masterpiece; a group like Floyd could have had this their tune as well. But I find it hard for Floyd to perform songs like "Kashmir" and "Immigrant song".

Good comparison!
At one point, these were my number 2 & 3 bands, after the Beatles. My tastes have shaken that up a bit, but I still like em both lots.
My nod goes to Zep. Classic rock radio had KILLED The Wall & Dark Side for me. And yes, a lot of Zep has been killed for me the same way, but I like so much MORE beyond the surface of Zep radio stuff. My fave albums from them are Physical Graffitti, Presence, Houses of the Holy, In Through the Out Door and III.
Fave Floyd is Animals, and I also thought the Division Bell was good for so late in their career.
