OK, is this a Dave thing, or is there really such a term as YAGE? I've been trying to figure out if it's some sort of Internet term (like LOL or ROTFL), or if it's just something he made up that others have caught on to.

I found it on other sites as well. I knew Dave didn't make it up, but I wondered if someone else on RL did, so I looked for both "YAGE" and "yet another grand exit" and found it a few other places.

Another phrase which is often used on one site where I go is "RTFA". Basically, it means "read the archives" and I'll let you figure out for yourself what the F stands for. I don't know if this is a commonly-used Internet term or not.

Laura already answered this for you, Pete. But another point - I think it's highly unlikely that RLers would have glommed on to a catch-phrase that Dave made up, given the disdain for him most people seemed to have.

I'm sure it came from somewhere other than RL, but the mods there have several times made statements about people who want to leave should just do it quietly rather than in a YAGE.

Anyway, just for grins, I Googled YAGE and got what was apparently a Russian singles website.


They identified this as a YAGE.
As the song goes, don't ask me why. (See how I brought this post back on topic?)

Although...I DO think they were a little too hard on him and jdub for making music lists. We do that on this board all the time (well, I don't, but a lot of you guys do) and no one complains. Then again, the Click is a board entirely devoted to music, so there's more room for that than there is on a board which is about a variety of things.

True, but the fact is that he needs to stop throwing hissy fits. OK, so all of us don't have a list of our top 17,000 songs (if he actually really does KNOW that many), not all of us have committed to memory EVERY single chart position of EVERY single top 40 hit ever. The fact is that most of us have lives outside of our Internet interests, and can't devote our entire lives to writing lists and compiling databases of songs for our own personal satisfaction and nothing else. Sure some people were out of line in making fun of the "lists" over on RL, but a lot of it was done in a joking manner and (at least as far as I was concerned) not "making a mockery" of anyones "hard work".

If someone takes a shot at me, I just fire it right back. If I feel the comment is out of line, I'll address it accordingly. I have NO problem speaking my mind, and I don't say things I can't back up (I'm sure you all know me well enough to understand and accept me for it). None of us are perfect, and I'm sure that I do and say things that annoy people from time to time. That's fine, if anything, I try to keep things interesting.

We are a mature, accepting group of people who are neither mean-spirited nor vindictive. Though I'm not as close to the RL community as I am here, I think it's pretty much safe to say the same about them. If Dave can't hang, oh well....
Everyone has their breaking point, and we reached it here with Dave a while ago, after giving every "benefit of the doubt" we possibly could..

So now he's gone from RL as well, the site he was SO gung-ho to join and ditch us for last December. He even went as far as to say "I'm just more comfortable here than at the Click".

I know he has problems, but there comes a time when you need to take responsibility for your actions and your life. He has yet to, and he's 37!
