But I'm starting to like a handful of the young female pop artists out there!
I can't help it! A lot of it was from seeing the videos. Then my girls see them and like the songs too.
Don't get me wrong, they are still hearing (and loving) classic rock. How many 3 year olds do you know that know I Want Out by Helloween? But know matter how much I play for them and they like it, I know they will still hear modern stuff.
And they stuff that we like isn't as bad as some of the others, IMO. One is Kelly Clarkson. I'm sorry, but she has a really strong voice, and a couple of the singles on her second album aren't dance, but are actually rock. About the closest to mainstream female Pat Benatar rock we'd get these days.
And I know I've admitted before that I liked Pink's song Stupid Girls. But she has a few others that aren't dancy, and they have pretty good lyrics. They're just straightforward pop songs.
Ok, now I'm going to get it.
I also like Fergie's songs! (Dodges tomatoes.) Yes, it's completely mindless stuff, but the lyrics are so silly and catchy and easy to sing along to. And dance around like an idiot to.
Now Ken's going to scream-I like Avril's singles I'm hearing! Ok, Sk8er Boi is silly mindless pop, but I liked Complicated before I ever knew who it was. Girlfriend is kindof in the same mindless stuff as Fergie, but I don't mind it.
Same thing if you've ever heard Natasha Bedingfield's stuff. What helps liking all these women is it that all range from decent to really good looking! LOL!
Ok, shoot me. Believe me, I haven't and never will ditch real rock, but it's nice to hear some different stuff. And like I said, my daughters will hear some new stuff, and I'd rather it be these artists than Britney, Mariah or Whitney.
