The songs on today's featured chart bring back so many memories for me! Here are the top 10 songs on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart from May 24, 1975.
10. Old Days – Chicago 9. Bad Time – Grand Funk 8. I Don’t Like to Sleep Alone – Paul Anka 7. He Don’t Love You (Like I Love You) – Tony Orlando & Dawn 6. How Long – Ace 5. Thank God I’m a Country Boy – John Denver 4. Only Yesterday – Carpenters 3. Jackie Blue – Ozark Mountain Daredevils 2. Before the Next Teardrop Falls – Freddy Fender 1. Shining Star – Earth, Wind & Fire
Any thoughts or memories of these songs?

A pretty good chart today. I've heard all these songs. Favorites: Old Days - The nostalgia anthem Bad Time - One of my favorites by GFR How Long - a really good soft rock song Only Yesterday - A pretty good one by the Karen & Richard Jackie Blue - A seldom heard classic Shining Star - One of the best songs by one of the best R&B groups ever.

Great list! I have all but the Carpenters & Paul Anka on CD. That should change soon!

Wow! 2 of my very favorite artists on this list, today. John Denver and the Carpenters were staples of my childhood. Love the Chicago and the Grand Funk songs, too. The only song I don't remember is the one by Paul Anka. Doesn't ring any bells.

Thanks, dodger. I agree, there are some real winners on this list. 'Bad Time' is my favorite Grand Funk song. It was a bit of a departure in style for them, but it's excellent!

Like you, Kathy, I remember hearing the Carpenters and John Denver often when I was growing up, and they're still among my favorite artists. I wish we heard their music more often on the radio today. Stations in my area pretty much ignore John's music, and play only 3 or 4 of the many Carpenters' hits. I have the Paul Anka one on a Ktel compilation I bought a few years ago, but don't remember it from back in the day.

Although I didn't much care for the later Paul Anka stuff, "I Don't Like to Sleep Alone" is one of my all time favorites.
Bad Time is my favorite Grand Funk (even though- or maybe because- it didn't sound very Grand Funky)
I'm likely in the minority when I say that the Orlando cover (and mis-titling) of Jerry Butler's He Will Break Your Heart is nowhere near as good as the original.
Denver's Country Boy is good fun.
Always liked Fender's Before the Next Teardrop Falls. Great crossover country.

I've actually seen that song included on a compilation CD of beach music! I have a cousin my age who loved Freddy Fender back then, and he always wanted to play the 'Teardrop' album when my family and I were visiting. Hearing that song always makes me think of those good old days.

Peter Cetera HATED the song "Old Days" so much that when they performed the song on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years Eve 1976 he sang it with a scowl on his face. He thought the lyrics were stupid..
I've always liked the song, myself.
How Long, Bad Time, and Jackie Blue are all great, and Shining Star is one of the greatest R&B records ever!

I seem to recall hearing that Peter Cetera wasn't too thrilled about some of the songs Chicago recorded, and 'Old Days' must have been one of them. But like you, I've always liked it. I can identify with the lyrics more and more as I get older.

1975 oh yeah!
Thank God I'm a Country Boy - Remember seeing his TV special at the time - RIP John
Old Days - Have it on CD - It should get way more airplay than it does.
How Long - A classic, love the keyboards and Paul Carrack - what a voice . Heard it plenty back then
Bad Time - I made a cassette of tunes from '75 and '76 a while back to play in the van and this , Jackie Blue and How Long were included. A great Grand Funk tune.

I love those three songs you mentioned!
