It's back to the 60's for this one. Here's a look at the top 10 songs on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart from May 25, 1968.
10. Do You Know the Way to San Jose – Dionne Warwick 9. Shoo-Be-Doo-Be-Doo-Da-Day – Stevie Wonder 8. Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing – Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell 7. The Unicorn – Irish Rovers 6. Cowboys to Girls – Intruders 5. Honey – Bobby Goldsboro 4. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly – Hugo Montenegro 3. A Beautiful Morning – Rascals 2. Mrs. Robinson – Simon & Garfunkel 1. Tighten Up – Archie Bell & the Drells
Any thoughts or memories of these songs?

Whew -- I finally caught up! Glad you went back to the 60s, Dawn. That said, I'm not finding much in this particular week that I like. -- other than the Marvin and Tammi duo. I like most of their duets, and Real Thing is one of their best. This particular week seems again to showcase some great artists whose effort at that particular time was not the best. I like Warwick, but not San Jose particularly. (also Stevie and the Rascals). Mrs. Robinson, however,is an all time classic. The line "where have you gone, Joe Dimaggio" has become a catch-phrase for lamenting things past. And finally, if I ever try to put together a list of my all time Bottom 100 songs, "Honey" will have a special place reserved.

I liked Marvin's duets. Good stuff. I like others more than this one, but it's decent.
Not a great list for me, as I don't know many, and the others I'm not big on.
A Beautiful Morning is EXCELLENT though!

As I play my "Time Capsule" music at home, I just played all these 10 a couple days ago. What a trip! I'm one of the select few who LOVES "Honey" (as do my parents). And "Tighten up" belongs at every party.

As you say, there are some great artists here, but I'm not as fond of many of these songs as I am with some of their other work. 'Mrs. Robinson' is truly a gem. Such a wonderful, catchy melody and lyrics!

I agree, 'A Beautiful Morning' is a great song!

1968--I was 5 years old. I have distinct memories of loving "The Unicorn" when I was that age. LOL!
Not a bad list. "Honey" is probably one of the sappiest songs ever written, though. Never cared for it much.

Never cared for it much. I've always liked 'The Unicorn', although I very rarely hear it on the radio these days. Cute song!

Do You Know the Way to San Jose - Good Song, always like Dionne Warwick voice Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell sounded so great together What a fun song The Unicorn was. I picked up the Irish Rovers greatest hits CD at a used CD store (cost $2.99). The CD is fun. Cowboys to Girls - a good song Honey is just sweet & syrupy for me now I think The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly is one of the best instrumentals ever. (also a pretty good movie) A Beautiful Morning - Always liked the Rascal Mrs Robinson - Coo Coo Ca-Choo, Mrs. Robinson. Great Song Tighten Up - Agree with with DJ Dave, a great party song

I haven't heard that song in about 20 years, but I really liked it when it was popular. 'The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly' is a good song that's not often heard these days. I always thought it sounded so mysterious, with those trills!

No. The name of the CD I got was Years May Come, Years May Go. 1. The Unicorn 2. Lily of the Pink 3. Whiskey On A Sunday 4. Years May Come, Years May Go 5. Fifi O'Toole 6. Goodnight Irene 7. Sam Hall 8. The Life of the Rover 9. Bonnie Killswater 10. Liverpool Lou I guess when I saw the price and made just a cursory look at the track list, I presumed it was their greatest hits. My Bad. But I checked their discography and Wasn't It a Party isn't on the Best of or their Greatest Hits. Best advice I can give is to look for the following CDs: Celebrate: The First Thirty Years (1994) Celtic Collection: The Next Thirty Years (1995) Irish Rover Gems (1996) Hope you like Irish drinking songs.

Thanks, dodger - I was wondering. I don't think I've heard any of the songs on it besides 'The Unicorn', but it sounds like an interesting collection!
