Let's take a trip back to the 70's today. These were the top 10 songs on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart on July 20, 1974.
10. If You Love Me (Let Me Know) – Olivia Newton-John 9. The Air That I Breathe – Hollies 8. You Won’t See Me – Anne Murray 7. Rikki Don’t Lose That Number – Steely Dan 6. Rock the Boat – Hues Corporation 5. On and On – Gladys Knight & the Pips 4. Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me – Elton John 3. Rock and Roll Heaven – Righteous Brothers 2. Annie’s Song – John Denver 1. Rock Your Baby – George McCrae
Any thoughts or memories of these songs?

Not one of the better 70's charts, I'm afraid! Don't know the Pips tune. Although I love The Dan, SO sick of Rikki! The winners here are Olivia, Righteous and John Denver! The rest I would consider average.

There are some pretty decent tunes here
Bought both the 45's of Elton and Steely Dan at the time
The Air That I Breathe has always been a big fave also - have it on disc as well as K-tel Superstars album
I seem to remember we had the ONJ 45 in the house .
I like Annie's song , Anne's cover of You Won't See Me is Ok but I have to go with The Beatles version.
Haven't heard Rock and Roll Heaven in a long time but heard it quite often at the time.
Rock The Boat I believe a few years ago was used in a Pepsi commercial. Heard Rock Your Baby lots although it seems radio has forgotten about it now.

The songs you mentioned as favorites are all great! 'Annie's Song' is truly a classic.

I'd grown up knowing only Anne's version of 'You Won't See Me', so I remember I was pretty surprised to find that it was originally a Beatles song! Both versions are great! I'm like you - I remember hearing 'Rock and Roll Heaven' on the radio a lot during that summer, but hardly ever hear it today. I've always liked it a lot. Have you ever heard the follow-up to it? I'd like to find a copy of it one of these days.

At least I was around. I like this one better than the last 70's chart.
10) Love ONJ. It's a bit country, but she's not twangy so it's not too bad. 9) A great song. I have it on a K-Smel compilation, and they cut it off half way through. AHHHH! 8) Is this the Beatles song? If so, EWWW! 7) Love Steeley Dan. I like to put them on when I want to mellow. 6) Probably my least favorite on this list. Got tired of it, and to me, it's really not a great song - not well written and very repetitive. 5) Huh. I love the song of the same name by Edwin (?) Bishop (Down in Jamaica they've got lots of pretty women.......). Not familiar with this one. 4) Not an Elton fan in any way, shape, or form. This is not one of the 4 I can tolerate, but it's not as bad as some others to me. 3) Although I'm not a big fan of the group, I do like this song. 2) Eh. It's passable. 1) Love this one, but that's no surprise since it was written by my first ever favorite singer.....Harry Wayne (KC) Casey! (of And The Sunshine Band)

Hi Dawn - Great Chart
If You Love Me - Another good song by Olivia
Air That I Breathe - Hollies still cranking out top 10s
You Won't See Me - I don't remember this Anne Murray song.
Rikki Don't Lose that Number - One of my favorites by Steely Dan.
Rock the Boat & Rock your Baby - Both good songs.
You Won't See Me, On & On, Don't Let the Sun go Down on Me, & Annie's Song - Good songs, just not my favorites by Anne, Gladys, Elton, and John
Rock & Roll Heaven - What a great song. How many verses can we add to it now? The band playing in Rock & Roll Heaven now is truly one for the ages.

Rock and Roll Heaven - I Heard there was a remake - I might have heard it once . Ken, I checked the mymusic.com site, and they have a clip of it there! It's called Rock and Roll Heaven '92, and it's on their album Best of the Righteous Brothers Vol. 2.

(of And The Sunshine Band) I love K-tel albums, but one thing I'm not crazy about is the way they edit the songs down. Was this on the Block Buster album? I agree, that edit is pretty bad. Yes, 'You Won't See Me' is a remake of the Beatles song. Oh, Harry Wayne Casey! I've always loved his music, and had SUCH a crush on him when I was younger. (It must sound like I had crushes on everyone - LOL).

A little different from their 60's material, but great. As I mentioned to Ken, there is a remake of 'Rock and Roll Heaven' that mentions some of the greats we've lost in more recent years, like John Lennon, Marvin Gaye, etc. It's a really good song, done in the same style as the original.

Hey Dawn!
Some pretty good ones here.
The ONJ tune is pretty decent. I really like the way the guy who is singing bass offsets Olivia.
Air That I Breathe - All time top 250. Just listened to it last nite. Love the guitar.
You Won't See Me - Anne will never make people stop listening to the Beatles.
Might be my fave Steely Dan tune.
Rock The Boat - I'm probably in the minority on this one, but I think it's just barely OK.
On and On - One of my fave groups, but not a fave song.
Don't Let The Sun - All time top 250. Love it!
R&R Heaven - This was a great comeback song. (I had dinner with my cousins when I was up in Boston, and they had just seen the Righteous Brothers in concert in Connecticut. My cousins told me, that their range has diminished considerably, but they were still pretty good.)
Annie's Song - I used to love this song. But it has fallen out of my top 250.
Rock Your Baby - Feel exactly the same here as I do on the Hues corporation song.

I agree with you about the bass singer in 'If You Love Me (Let Me Know)' - his low voice adds a nice contrast. I also like his vocals in 'Let Me Be There'. That's good to hear that The Righteous Brothers are still performing together. Their vocals on 'Rock and Roll Heaven' and other classics were excellent. 'Rikki Don't Lose That Number' definitely ranks among my top Steely Dan songs as well!
