I'm surprised that there are 3 on here I don't recognize:
10) No clue. 9) Same - I know a song by this name but it's a country song - maybe it's the same one. 8) This is a good Wings song. 7) Again - I know a Midnight Blue but it's not this one. 6) Not one of the few Elton songs I like, and I'm not fond of it. 5) I used to be able to do the Hustle. I can't remember how anymore. 4) Good early Olivia song. 3) Good pre-Saturday Night Fever Bee-Gees song. 2) Love this song. Reminds me of my ex. 1) Not an Eagles fan, but this one is passable.

Here's a link to a clip of 'Dynomite': www.mymusic.com/product.asp?curr=0&myptr=addany&muzenbr=193247. I don't believe I've heard it on the radio since 1975. 'Rockin' Chair' is a great soul tune, sort of very slow disco. www.mymusic.com/product.asp?curr=0&myptr=addany&muzenbr=234186.

I absolutely agree, Ken! What an awesome year for music! 'Listen to What the Man Said' is wonderful, one of my favorites of his. I remember being on vacation with my parents that summer and seeing it listed on the jukebox in a restaurant, and also hearing it a lot on the radio back then. Whenever I hear it, it brings back great memories of that time. I just heard 'Someone Saved My Life Tonight' yesterday evening. A classic from Elton!

Hi Dawn - Fairly good chart today
Dynomite - Didn't like it
Rockin' Chair - Don't remember this song, although at the time Gwen McCrae did this song, I think she was married to George McCrae who had a #1 with Rock Your Baby
Listen to What the Man Said - Classic Paul McCartney
Midnight Blue - A very pretty ballad by Melissa
Someone Saved My Life Tonight - A good Elton John song, just not my favorite.
The Hustle - What a fund song. Still like hearing it today.
Please Mr. Please - Not one of my favorites from Olivia
Jive Talkin' - The beginning of a new sound for the Bee Gees. Can't say I liked it, but it worked for them.
I'm Not in Love - One of their best
One of These Nights - Always thought this was one of the best pre-Joe Walsh Eagle's songs.

Not familiar with 10 & 9, although I know 9 by title.
8. Classic McCartney, one of my faves of his biggest singles.
7. Not a bad song.
6. Good tune, a little overplayed by now.
5. A classic dance tune.
4. Not my fave Olivia tune, but not horrible.
3. Never big on this tune.
2. Classic, best tune on here, gotta have the full length version.
1. One of their best, no doubt.

Hoo boy, four days worth of catching up to do 10. Dynomite – Tony Camillo's Bazuka I don't remember this. In fact I've never even heard of the song or the band. I'm guessing this was a novelty based upon Jimmy "J.J." Walker's character on Good Times because this was his catchphrase and the time period is right. 9. Rockin’ Chair – Gwen McCrae Forgettable response hit by George McCrae's wife to the number one smash "Rock Your Baby" of the previous year. 8. Listen to What the Man Said – Wings Always liked this one. Denny McClain was a fine addition to Wings. "The wonder of it all, baby". Some real nice summer memories associated with this song. 7. Midnight Blue – Melissa Manchester Good vocalist but not really my style. 6. Someone Saved My Life Tonight – Elton John Love it! Probably my all time favorite of Elton's. 5. The Hustle - Van McCoy & the Soul City Symphony Instrumental that celebrated the current dance craze. Van passed away at a very early age not long afterwards. R.I.P. 4. Please Mr. Please – Olivia Newton-John Country-tinged Livvy didn't do much for me. Liked her post-Grease releases better. 3. Jive Talkin’ – Bee Gees Very good tune from the brothers Gibb. They based the opening drum sequence upon the sound that car tires make as they cross over a long suspension bridge. Clever... 2. I’m Not in Love – 10cc Another one I really like. This song has the typical fear of commitment attitude during the sexual revolution. The whispering woman midway through always gave me the chills though. "Big boys don't cry"...I used to think she was saying "Big voice be quiet" 1. One of These Nights - Eagles Excellent. This is a really good list. All of these songs have good memories for me. Summer of '75 was a happy time when my parents still loved one another and we spent lots of time doing things together as a family. Those of you with kids make sure you remember that this is of utmost importance in your child-rearing years. They will remember...take your kids to the zoo or to the park, buy them an ice cream cone. Ask them how their day was... Anyway this is one of my favorite Eagles tracks. Particularly love the opening guitar licks.

Decent list all around! 10. Dynomite – Tony Camillo's Bazuka (I remember this 45. It's kind of a novelty hit, but it had a GREAT piano lick! Still can't find this on a domestic CD!) 9. Rockin’ Chair – Gwen McCrae (Didn't know this until a couple of years ago. It's OK). 8. Listen to What the Man Said – Wings (Soldier boy... kisses girl Leaves behind a tragic world..) 7. Midnight Blue – Melissa Manchester (Not bad, better than "Don't Cry Out Loud"). 6. Someone Saved My Life Tonight – Elton John (Was this the only hit off of "Captain Fantastic"? If so, it's a shame, that was a great album!) 5. The Hustle - Van McCoy & the Soul City Symphony (Another 45 my sister had. Defined the pre-Fever disco era!) 4. Please Mr. Please – Olivia Newton-John (Cute, but her better hits were in the early 80s) 3. Jive Talkin’ – Bee Gees (OH, YEEEAAAHHH!! Big thumbs up!) 2. I’m Not in Love – 10cc (Sat at #2 for three weeks behind 3 different #1's. Couldn't make that covetted spot. Too bad...) 1. One of These Nights - Eagles (My fave Eagles tune!)

You're right about Gwen and George McCrae being married at the time. I've always really liked both of their hits. I agree, 'Midnight Blue' is a wonderful ballad. Melissa's vocals are outstanding on it. I'm with you about 'One of These Nights'. It's been my favorite Eagles song for many years!

I agree, the full-length version of 'I'm Not in Love' is a must! Strangely, I don't remember hearing the edited version until fairly recently - the station that I listened to back in 1975 must have been playing the album version. Love that song!

You're absolutely right about 'Dynomite' - the song is pretty much structured around that catchphrase. I don't remember hearing it as often as the other songs on this chart back in the day. I remember I was saddened to read of Van McCoy's death years ago - he was only 35 when he passed away. 'The Hustle' is a such a great dance song. That's really cool about the inspiration for the drum sequence in 'Jive Talkin' - I hadn't known that! Definitely one of my all-time favorites. I don't have children myself yet, but I completely agree with the advice you gave. It's amazing how much of an impact even a small gesture can have many years later.

Yes, originally it was the only hit single from Captain Fantastic, but there is a reissue CD from the mid 90's that also includes 'Philadelphia Freedom' and 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds'. That's an album I definitely need to get one of these days - I love Elton's music from that period! 'Please Mr. Please' is a good song, but I agree that it's not one of her best. It's surprising that 'I'm Not in Love' never made number 1 - such a classic song!

Hey Dawn! Once again, it's catch-up time.
Dynomite - Trying to cash in on the "JJ" Walker catch-phrase in the sitcom "Good Times". Didn't particularly like this one.
Rockin' Chair - A sound-alike answer song to her husband George's "Rock Your Baby" Not bad, not great.
Listen to What the Man Said - Another winner for Paul and the Group
Midnight Blue - Beautiful song! In my top 250.
Someone Saved My Life Tonight - same response as for Midnight Blue.
The Hustle - A short-lived dance craze. Not bad.
Please Mr Please - ONJ was doing a lot of country in the early and mid 70s. This one is probably the most rural of all. I don't know if this was ever covered by a C&W singer, but it sounds like it should have been. Good song.
Jive Talkin' - I've seen some charts list this one as #1 song of the year. It was a bit of departure in style for the Bee Gees then, and was beginning to get them into a disco mode. Didn't really like it that much then, but it continues to grow on me.
I'm Not In Love - Fine song!
One Of These Nights - Love the Eagles. This would be in my top 500 if I had a top 500, but doesn't make the top 250.

I agree, 'Midnight Blue' is really beautiful. I liked it back in the day, but I've grown to love it even more in recent years. That's a good point about Olivia's song. I know at that point her songs were still getting a lot of play on the country stations as well as top 40 ones.
