Scary, SCARY stuff here!
10. Eh, not good, not bad. Just THERE.
9. Not one of Madonna's better ones, especially from this time period.
8. No thanks.
7. I'm not a big Huey fan, but he had stuff much better than this.
6. I actually have this on a reissue single I bought for an ex-girlfriend. Guess how many times I've listened to it since then.
5. Ok, as far as the bubblegummy pop of this time period, this is the most acceptable. I thought the song was not TOO bad back then, and I had a crush on her at the time.
4. Saving the list. Except NOT the single version!
3. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
2. See number 3.
1. Stick with the original.

10. The only Bananarama song I know is Venus.
9. Eh. This one's okay. Not one of my favorites.
8. Not familiar with this one.
7. Ditto.
6. Well, gee. I don't know this one either!
5. Love it.
4. Another great song.
3. This one's okay. She had better tunes though. Much better.
2. Don't know it.
1. I like it. Groovy, baby. ;D

Hey Dawn! - I really wasn't following music much that year, so only know about half of the songs.
10. I Heard a Rumour - Don't remember it.
9. Who’s That Girl - Ugh.
8. When Smokey Sings - Tribute to Smokey Robinson. He deserves a better song.
7. Doing It All for My Baby - Don't remember this one (but iit seems that I should)
6. Can’t We Try - No we can't.
5. Only in My Dreams - Didn't care for Debbie at all until after Tiffany emerged on the scene, and I saw that Debbie really had some talent. Really, not a bad song.
4. Here I Go Again - My fave on the chart today. Good song!
3. Didn’t We Almost Have It All - Yeah Whitney, you did. But then Bobby had to start beating the sh!t out of everyone he met, and the two of you had to snort white stuff all the time. Makes the song even sadder.
2. I Just Can’t Stop Loving You - I'm sure I know it, but I can't remember...
1. La Bamba - from the movie. The version is TOO similar to Richie's.

This is a pretty bad chart. Funny how I always thought music was good in my early college days until I see a chart like this and get queasy. 10. I Heard a Rumour – Bananarama Decent pop. Nothing special or notable. 9. Who’s That Girl – Madonna Awful song from an awful movie. One of Madonna's worst IMO. 8. When Smokey Sings – ABC And this is the group that gave us "The Look of Love" in 1982? My how they have fallen. 7. Doing It All for My Baby – Huey Lewis & the News Forgettable. Huey had peaked with "Sports" in 1984. 6. Can’t We Try – Dan Hill with Vonda Sheppard Nice sentiments but good gravy...stop whining already! 5. Only in My Dreams – Debbie Gibson Guilty pleasure. She was cute in a girl-next-door kinda way so I gave her a few listens. God that sounds shallow 4. Here I Go Again – Whitesnake This was pretty good if a little overplayed. The show must go on even if the relationship doesn't. 3. Didn’t We Almost Have It All – Whitney Houston Didn't Whitney almost have it all? Didn't this song get on your nerves. Don't you hate people who ask questions all the time? 2. I Just Can’t Stop Loving You – Michael Jackson with Siedah Garrett No...just no...musical valium. 1. La Bamba – Los Lobos Radio ran it into the ground. I still don't like it.

Ah, my top guilty pleasure year! Others I remember liking from this time were the Dead's "Touch of Grey" and John Mellencamp's "Paper in Fire".
10. My fave of theirs! 9. Don't listen to it much today, but back then--hey, it was Madonna! 8. Not bad at all! Great retro Motown feel! 7. Not one of my top faves of them, but all right. 6. My least fave of the 10. HATED it then, but it's grown on me VERY slowly. 5. Woo hoo! Awesome! But hate the remixed album version. 4. Heehee...recall my 1987 poll? After 16 years, I still don't like the album version half as much (Apologies to Sat and others). But the best one on here! 3. Really grown on me over the years. Like this more now than then. 2. Always loved it. Especially like the original vinyl version where MJ speaks SOOOOO emotionally! 1. If it's any version of this tune, I love it! Let's ride on that carousel!!!

Thanks for this good billboard. www.click-smilies.de/sammlung/grinser/grinning-smiley-003.gif[/IMG] My favorite song is Here I go Again, I told you guys already that this is the song that my husband sang to me when he came from PR in 1988 to ask me to marry him, he was listening to it all the way here from PR .

I liked this year, but this is about half and half for me.
10) LOVE it, and the movie it was in (Disorderlies) 9) No thanks. The spanish was annoying as was the movie. 8) Love ABC, but this is probably my least favorite. 7) LOVE IT!!! HUEY!!!!! 6) No thanks 5) LOVE IT!!! Me and one of my friends used to sing into our hairbrushes and pretend we were Debbie. 4) No thanks - lousy lyrics to this one! (just my obnoxious opinion - no disrespect meant Cathy) 3) EW! 2) It's tolerable, but not outstanding. 1) Decent remake - excellent movie.

LOL! ;D 'Only in My Dreams' isn't bad, I agree, and I've always respected Debbie for writing and producing her own songs at such a young age. LOL about Whitney! I remember hearing that song VERY often back then! I've never cared for Los Lobos' version of 'La Bamba' at all - I agree, the original is much better.

I feel pretty much the same way about Madonna's song - there are quite a few of hers that I like better than this one. I wasn't too fond of 'Here I Go Again' when it came out, but it's starting to grow on me.

'Doing It All for My Baby' never seemed to get as much airplay as most of Huey's other songs, for some reason. It's good, although not one of my very favorites of his. LOL about 'Can't We Try'! ;D That is a shame about Whitney, I agree. I'm not all that much of a fan of hers, but she did have talent, and it's a shame it was squandered because of Bobby's antics and influence.

'When Smokey Sings' is catchy, but I agree that it isn't as good as 'The Look of Love' or 'Poison Arrow' - songs with a little more edge. I'd have to agree with you about Huey peaking with Sports. That's an excellent album, but his subsequent efforts were not as consistent. I remember the stations here played 'La Bamba' constantly back then also!

It sounds like that was a very special time for you, and I think that is so romantic about your husband singing 'Here I Go Again' to you!
