I'm back In '79 - #5 ,#7 and #4 were added to my collection - #1 was added much, much later although I had (have) the LP 10.Great tune that I haven't heard since it was current - a shame. 9.Heard it lots back then and have it on a CD compilation of disco tunes. 8.Actually didn't mind this at all - pretty melody. Before all that psychic friends network business 7.Some great Pop / Rock from LRB. One of '79's best. 6.Always enjoyed it 5.Never heard it at the time - I was only familiar with Right Back Where We Started From in the 70's . Didn't hear this until I bought Volume 25 of Rhino's Have a Nice Day series in '96. 4.Love every second of it. There was a guy I knew in Grade 7 named Bruce and of course we all thought that's what Jeff was singing in the song so we use to tease him a bit but he was a great guy 3.Smokin' tune 2.Great track from EWF 1.I remember dancing to this(!) at one of our noon hour dances in Grade 7 thank God no pictures exist. The only time I actually went to one of them and ACTUALLY danced - still can't believe it!! LOVE this song. Thank you, Ken, for the good wishes! It was a wonderful birthday! I just recently got that Rhino Have a Nice Day Vol. 25, with ‘Lead Me On’! I’ve been trying to fill in the gaps in my collection, and still have 5 more to go. I always thought Jeff was singing “Bruce” also – in fact, it’s only been very recently that I found out differently! This was definitely a great one from ELO, and it’s always been a favorite of mine too! LOL about ‘My Sharona’! ;D Weren’t those 7th grade dances something, though? I remember I always felt so self-conscious at those things – I was very shy!

I said it before, but it bears repeating..... Let's see.....almost 6. 10) Eh. It's ok. They have one I really like that's kind of this tempo and feel but I can never remember what it's called. 9) Love it! Funky beat, and is the mix for Rappers Delight! 8) Ew. No thanks. 7) It's ok. Prob my least favorite by them, but not bad. 6) Sad song. (Duh, I guess) 5) No thanks. 4) Love it! ELO Rocks! 3) I'm getting psyched for my concert...11 more days - this is usually his finale. After I leave here I gotta get some more sewing done or Charlie isn't going to have a gift. 2) I really never liked this one. Not a huge fan of EWF but this one I really don't like. 1) Good song, but got so sick of it. Love My Bologna though! Props to Doug Feiger, though, for getting Al his first record deal. Thanks, Railyn! I like your icons, especially the Hello Kitty one! Is the Commodores song you’re thinking of called ‘Oh No’? That’s kind of similar to ‘Sail On’, as is ‘Easy’. That’s right – the Charlie Daniels concert is coming up! Be sure to fill us in on it! I’ve always enjoyed Charlie’s music. ‘My Bologna’ is a great one from Al!

I'm a little late, but...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAWN!!! Hope it was a good one! Sail On--Absolutely love it. A favorite Commodores song. A favorite song, period. Good Times--Sick to death of it. I'll Never Love this Way Again--Boring. Lonesome Loser--Good song. Love LRB. Sad Eyes--Not something that I'd seek out to listen to. Lead Me On--Always liked this one. Don't Bring Me Down--Lotsa memories of this--my husband loved ELO, so I heard them a lot back in the day. The Devil Went Down to Georgia--Cool song. Charlie Daniels is a great talent. After the Love Has Gone--Not fond of Earth Wind and Fire. Never cared for this. My Sharona---Love it. Never get tired of hearing it. Hi Kathy! It was great, thanks! I agree – they don’t get much better than ‘Sail On’. I especially love the chorus near the end, where it goes “Oh sail on honey, good times never felt so good”. I got their greatest hits cassette back in the 80s, and I remember playing that one over and over! I’m a big fan of LRB’s also. They had so many great songs! I remember taping ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’ and ‘The Main Event’ off the radio back then! ELO had such a terrific sound – always loved them!

One of these days, when I get all my needlepoint caught up, I have some Hello Kitty patterns I want to put on pink aida. Love Hello Kitty. Used to spend hours at the kiosk in the Bon Ton buying all that little tiny stuff. I own both the Hitsville USA boxed sets, and that Commodores song is not on it. It was a spotlight dance on Bandstand. I heard it in a rerun a few years back - I had forgotten about it. I'd know it if I heard it, but the only part I can definitively remember is the bridge, which goes "Woah oh oh ooohhhhhh ohhhhhhhh ohhhhh" (I think) - I know that really helps. I got my backstage passes the other day. That made it sink in. I'm feverishly sewing to be done by next Friday. I'm taking a camera..... And I finally found my husband a cd that has the uncensored version of the song on it.

Looks there was still some good music in 79!
10. Good tune, one of their best.
9. Not big on this one.
8. As I said on my post yesterday, one of her good tunes.
7. Love LRB. One of their best tunes.
6. Used to sing this to my ex-girlfriend's dog all the time, because he had them. Good song.
5. Nice song.
4. Good song, but so overplayed.
3. Love it. Need the SOB version, not the son of a gun version.
2. Great one. I need their updated Greatest Hits for this.
1. Ok, but not the next Beatles!
And of course, I already gave you b-day wishes! ;D

I think the "SOB" version is on the Million Mile Reflections album, but I'm not positive. I've got that one - should get it out and have a listen. I've been eyeing that new EWF Essentials collection. I've got the original Greatest Hits Vol. 1, and it's missing some great ones.

There's a line that sounds very similar to the one you mentioned, and it does sound a lot like 'Sail On' overall.

3. Love it. Need the SOB version, not the son of a gun version. Well, it's on Million Mile Reflections (just got the lp for $.99), The Ultimate Charlie Daniels Band 2 cd set we just got, and possibly the Urban Cowboy soundtrack.

I believe you're right. As soon as you said "Sweet Love" I can hear them saying that. After I read your description of that line, I was pretty sure ‘Sweet Love’ was the one you were thinking of. That’s a really nice one from them – I’m surprised it wasn’t on those boxed sets.
