I remember MOST of these songs.
You're right...what I noticed, too, was the variety of artists. KISS and James Taylor on the same chart?! I liked that back then you could listen to one radio station and get so many different styles. Now, everything is so segmented.

Olivia Newton-John's "Don't Stop Believin'" was one of my favorite songs back then although I think I discovered it a few years later off her Greatest Hits album (I think I was 13 or so when I got that).

I don't remember Rick Springfield's "Take A Hand". That must've been EARLY Rick. He didn't hit real big until the early '80's.

I was listening to Linda Ronstadt's Greatest Hits last night in the car in singing along to "That'll Be The Day"!

I didn't realize that "Play That Funky Music" was that old. I don't think I knew of that song until a little later.

I loved mellow stuff back then. I remember loving that England Dan & John Ford Coley song at the time. I think that was on one of my K-tel Super Hits albums!

A soap opera theme actually made the charts?

I don't recall the theme of "Beverly Hills 90210" topping the charts in early '91.

'76 was a very good year musically. I was still in grade school at the time these songs were popular, and listening to them today brings back fond memories.

I had never heard of Take A Hand until I picked up a secondhand K-Tel album with it in the mid '80s. It's a pretty good song, although maybe not quite up there with his '80s material.

I have those Super Hits albums!

Many of these are also on my favorites list, Woody. I still have 45s of several of these from my early days of record collecting.

Yep, that Young and the Restless theme was quite popular back in the day, mainly because of the Summer Olympics I believe. It's hard to picture it now with the way radio formats are today, but I remember it being played alongside stuff like Walk This Way and More Than A Feeling!

Reading this list sure takes me back! I have most of these in my collection. The only tracks I'm not familiar with are those by Diana Ross, The Ohio Players and Rick Springfield.
