Geneva, NY to be exact, or as we rural folk say, "down the road a piece." 
I knew these guys were from upstate New York, but I wasn't sure if it was Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo...It literally wasn't until I found this clip on YouTube that I found out they were from Geneva.(Incidentally, Gym Class Heroes is also from Geneva). Mom and I actually have 45s of this song, and mine is a promo copy( it's pretty beat up, though). It actually made the lower rungs of the Billboard Hot 100.
