Let's see how good your memory is, or sharp you are looking at my past posts. (A big hint is to read the dates of my poll question)
If you read my lists and polls, you should know what the other 9 songs in my Top 10 are. (Eight of them are given in poll #2, the ninth song was in Poll #1.)

Well, Dave, I'm on vacation, and doing research on your past posts is FAR too much like work. ;D - especially with a dial-up modem. So instead, Ill take a stab based on the fact that you've often sung the praises of Doris Day.
Secret Love.

The song has a great chance for the 2005 top 10 list, where there may be no "earliest" boundary (LOL), but this list covers strictly 1955-1994 songs, and Secret Love was a year earlier than this time period; February 1954. Sorry Ed.

BTW, this certain song places at #7. Today (Wednesday) I reveal #'s 10, 9, and 8. So I'll let this question go a little longer.

This should be the biggest hints I give, and don't say I make these too hard!
It was both a Billboard and my personal #1 of the year.
And it's the only song from a certain decade of the six REMAINING choices (COME ON! Look at the years in my poll question, and you GOT to have this!).

Ok, I just said Bette Davis Eyes, but I don't think it was #1 of the year!

Ok, I just said Bette Davis Eyes, but I don't think it was #1 of the year! Well, that's your answer in the poll, and you are... A WINNER!!!!!! Yes, it was Billboard's #1 song of 1981, beating out "Endless Love", "Lady" (peaked in '80, but used for the '81 data), "Starting Over" (peaked in '80, but used for the '81 data also), and "Jessie's Girl" (the top 5).
