Going by my personal taste, I'd pick America. But I don't see them as being hugely influential or unique for their time.
Of these listed, I pick DC5. Not that I'm a big fan, I just think that for their time, they tended to play heavier than most other bands. A big influence on American garage bands, which would evolve into the punk scene.

Good, you did the right thing:picked who you thought deserved it, as opposed to your fave. I'm not a huge Skynyrd fan (I'd put America, Raiders and DC5 ahead of them) but I can recognize that they should go in.

All great artists - so hard to choose - I'll pick Jim Croce.

Lynard Skynard would be my choice, also. A couple of those I would put in as songwriters before I would as artists.

Of this group, for me hands down it's Neil Diamond. It is a close race though.

More great choices, but picked Skynyrd. Way overdue.

Pete's argument for the DC5 is most compelling. Another vote for them.

Hard to pick for this group, went with Lynyrd. Could have picked Neil, DC5, or Jim. I like the suggestion from Lora that a couple of these (Neil & Jim maybe) could go in as songwriters as well.

I went with Neil Diamond. Popular in the '60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and still hangin' in there pretty strong these days, as far as I know. And...he's my mom's favorite, so I chose Neil as a little nod to her. LOL!

I voted for Carly Simon, but all are deserving.
