You know, Help and Hard Days are considered the two best and "real" Beatles movies, but they are the ones I have seen the LEAST!
I am most familiar with Let it Be and Yellow Submarine. Makes sense as I saw Sub as a kid (cartoon) and Let it Be is just them making great music. Love the jam scenes, especially the full length Dig it, their run through of You Really Got a Hold on Me, the other roof top version of Get Back where John wails on the guitar near the end and the best part, the fast version of Two of Us!
Yellow Sub is a trip and so glad they included Hey Bulldog on the DVD!
Magical Mystery Tour has gotten flack over the years, but the music scenes are classic! Just seeing them dressed as wizards is too cool as well!
I got Hard Days Night on DVD for my b-day and I am hoping to watch it soon.
That and Help are classics and I have to take time to watch em both all the way through!
Your thoughts on the movies??

Hey, great topic! I love Beatles movies! I've never seen Let It Be in its entireity - just clips from it that were included in Compleat, Anthology, etc. But I've wanted to see it for years, and am definitely going to pick up the DVD when it's released! A Hard Day's Night is my favorite, and one I've seen over and over again. There are some really funny scenes, especially the ones with Paul's grandfather, and great witty repartee throughout. Definitely a classic! Help! is good as well, although not quite up to the level as A Hard Day's Night, mainly because the storyline is a little forced. But again, there is great comic dialogue among the Beatles, and the soundtrack is outstanding! Yellow Submarine is really enjoyable to watch. I love all the bright colors and surrealistic designs. This is another one I'd love to get on DVD. Taken as a whole, Magical Mystery Tour is a little disjointed, but when looked at as a collection of separate scenes, similar to music videos, it's really interesting. 'Fool on the Hill' and 'I Am the Walrus' are two of the best scenes from it.

"Help!" is my favorite Beatles movie. I love all the songs.
"Yellow Submarine" kind of spooked me when I saw it as a kid. I don't know why.
"Magical Mystery Tour" was just bad, it made no sense at all. But "Fool On The Hill" is a great song. I like The Rutles version much better, "Tragical History Tour". ;D

You just knew you'd see me post here, didn't you? Oddly enough,I like the Beatles movies in exactly the order of their releases.Hard Days Night is my favorite because of its spontanious humor and playfulness;Victor Spinetti's small part is great.HELP is more scripted and not as fresh but still good;again,Victor Spinetti is hilarious.Yellow Submarine is a visual delight with memorable characters and the best soundtrack of any of their movies;the addition of "Hey Bulldog"was a real treat.Magical Mystery Tour was decidedly more drug-induced,very psychedelic and surreal but there were some classic scenes.I have only seen Let It Be one time*sob* and was not really that impressed by it;though it had some great music I felt that the undeniable tention was painful to watch.

If you ask me, The Monkees TV series was more inspired by "Help!" than "A Hard Day's Night", despite what I've heard over the years!
Anyway, I've seen all of them, I own Hard Days Night on DVD, waiting patiently for Help! to come out on DVD, and have Magical Mystery Tour and Let It Be on video. Yellow Submarine I should buy on DVD, but it's my least favorite of the 5.

I can't believe I'm just answering this now shame on me. A Hard Day's Night - Such a great feel good movie They looked like they were having a blast! The Can't Buy Me Love sequence is among my faves from the film. Victor Spinetti is very funny as well. The music of course which goes without saying is awesome . I first saw it in the early 80's courtesy of a bootleg copy. I have it on DVD and two copies on video Help - I remember John saying about Help that he felt that they were guest stars in their own movie. It's always been real special to me since this was the first Beatles movie I saw watching it on TV back in the mid 70's - my brother was babysitting me and we watched it together. The music was great as usual - I love the You're Gonna Lose That Girl sequence (poor Ringo!) . Leo McKern was brilliant and once again Victor along with Roy Kinnear were hilarious as the mad scientists. I have 2 copies on video. Let It Be - I saw this in the early 80's my brother bought it and we watched it many times. I also saw it along with Help in a double feature sometime in the 80's. It is sad to watch at times because the band was falling apart . But there is some great footage the rooftop concert of course and the footage in the basement studios at Apple playing with Billy. Still waiting for the DVD Magical Mystery Tour - I also saw this back in the 80's my brother had rented a copy. I didn't really enjoy it because the audio was not great. I bought the remastered video a few years ago and the music sequences are fantastic and I also like the race and you get to see John's Mini Cooper - very cool Yellow Submarine - Love it !! Like the other movies I've seen this so many times I've lost count . just a fine bit of animation. I have two copies on video as well as the DVD and am also very happy they included the Hey Bulldog scene. I videotaped it from TV back in the 80's and my oldest niece watched it many times growing up even having a crush on Ringo at one point

I have "Help" on video. It's a pretty good movie. The plot is rather silly. Of course, the best parts are when they're singing!

Only Magical Mystery tour is poor, I think. I like all the others very much.
