Ok - this one has puzzled me for many years. I like it, it's lilting melody, but I never understood it's meaning.
I was watching Behind The Music once, and they said that people were eluding to incest and lesbianism, but those rumors were unfounded, and they sued and won for libel.
Can anyone out there clue me in? Any ideas?
DREAMBOAT ANNIE By: Heart Album: Dreamboat Annie Author: Heart (I believe - I've been searching - this is the only thing I could come up with)
Heading out this morning into the sun Riding on the diamond waves, little darlin’ one
Warm wind caress her Her lover it seems Oh, annie Dreamboat annie my little ship of dreams
Going down the city sidewalk alone in the crowd No one knows the lonely one whose head’s in the clouds
Sad faces painted over with those magazine smiles Heading out to somewhere won’t be back for a while
My Opinion In A Nutshell: Short and sweet, but puzzling. I know that one of the Wilson sisters is Ann, but it just kind of baffles me.

I don't get the incest or lesbianism thing. To me, it just seems like the tale of a lonely girl named Annie who is the only real person in a world full of fakes. That's what I get from it, anyway.

Railyn-are you confusing the song Dreamboat Annie itself with the cover shot from the album?
The picture of the Wilson sisters shows them standing next to each other with no tops (shoulders up), and from there, some papers commented on their supposed "incestuous lesbianism".
That's what I heard from BTM.

My take on this one is pretty similar to Lora's. It sounds like this girl, Annie, is a loner, and kind of an independent spirit. But you're right, the lyrics are puzzling. I've always thought this song had such a beautiful melody also.

Sat may be right. I wasn't paying very close attention to it - I may be confused - small wonder....... I guess I missed the obvious - always trying to read deeper into things.......
