Welcome to Weird Al Wednesday!

Here's one of Al's more recent songs (in that it came out in the mid 90's - Al's only had 3 albums out between '96 and '03 (label buy-out, etc.). A take off of an odd song by an odd group, it had an equally entertaining video. It's also a staple of his live show. He shows movie clips on his video wall while he sings.

And that's all I have to say about that

My Opinion In A Nutshell: His homage to the Gump craze. I loved that movie, but Al hits the nail on the head.

Favorite Line: "He told JFK that he really had to pee"

It's a funny song on it's own. I'm sure I miss a lot of it because I don't know the original.

Trust me, you're not missing much from the original. It's really strange.

It is a good song on it's own. I imagine he probably got the idea because "Gump" sounds like "Lump" and it's weird so it probably got Al's attention. The Presidents liked it - they even showed up on the video set.

I love it when Ruth Buzzi (ala Laugh In) sits on the bench next to him. He offers her some chocolates, and she beats him up with her purse.

That sounds hysterical! Unfortunately I don't know this song, the original, or either video.
