We're doing entirely too many in memory of posts around here.

So I'm bumming big time over Robert Palmer. I can thank the powers above for the chance to see him live. Nothing like it. Absolutely wonderful show! He was every bit as cool as he looked on tv. Wore a 3 piece grey silk suit with slim pink tie and never broke a sweat.

Much to the disappointment of my ex, he did not bring the dancing girls. It was the Heavy Nova tour. Fall, 1988. I have the program yet somewhere......

The show opened with "Some Like It Hot" and ended with "Simply Irresistable". This one is by far my favorite, though, and he sang it somewhere along the evening......

My Opinion In A Nutshell: It's a simple song, but there's just something about it...........I can't explain it.

Favorite Line: "There's no profit in deceit

Wow...I've liked this song since it came out in the late 70s, but I never realized how profound the lyrics are until now. Great choice, Railyn.

I agree - we have lost so many talented musicians and actors this year.

This song is my favorite of Robert's also - I've loved it from the first time I heard it. The jazzy musical arrangement is great, and the lyrics are very true and thought-provoking. My favorite lines are "You know that love's the only goal that could bring a peace to any soul."

I've found that often happens. I too have always liked the song from the first time I heard it - him singing it on Bandstand, and it wasn't until just a few years ago when I happened to catch that ep on rerun on VH1 that it really hit me.

It's got that subtle carribean rythym to it - not too reggae, but a tiny bit of steel drum in it to break it up.

I like the song in that it's kind of a unifying song, yet it's not too in your face. It's kind of like "hey people, we're really all the same, so let's try to get it together" but it doesn't knock you over with it's message.
