Well, I got hit with the QHost-1 virus. It's not making my system crash or anything, but it's killed all my search engines and attempts to re-route me to the hijackers site, which has been taken down. I'm hoping to have it fixed this week. Apparently I don't have the full virus because the virus scan fix tools don't detect it, but it's in my registry. The computer guy at work is gonna fix it for me.
So, for the mean time, I'm down to songs I know by heart, or have the lyrics for here at home.
So I'm gonna dig out one I know by heart. It's an unreleased song, so not many people will know it. It has been released on several albums, with different vocals. The words are all the same, but the version I prefer is the one I will refer to here.
I DON'T THINK YOU KNOW ME
By: The Monkees
Unreleased Material - Peter Tork Vocals Version
Album: Listen To The Band, CD 1
Author:
If you think I want the life you choose to live
I don't think I want the love you've got to give
If you think my goals could be so trivial and small
Then I don't think you know me at all
Born between the covers of your fashion books
You think you can make it, girl, on just your looks
But you could never bring me up, between us stands a wall
No, I don't think you know me at all
(a few stanzas of la la la here)
Believing in the promise painted in your smile
I chased what I was running from, girl, all the while
I've known you a hundred times in memories I recall
Still, I don't think you know me at all
I don't think you know me at all
My Opinion In A Nutshell: It's a shame this one went undiscovered until the late 80's/early 90's. They tried it with Mike, Peter, and Micky with apparently no success. It got shelved. I think it's a stronger song than some of the other stuff they've released. I have several versions of it on several different cd's. In my opinion, this one was the strongest, and Peter sounded the most sincere.
Favorite Line: "I've known you a hundred times in memories I recall, still I don't think you know me at all"
