My Opinion In A Nutshell: Never a favorite of the original, I enjoy this send up. It's an original song - resembles nothing of the original. It's fast paced and frenetic with a lot of accordion. I can't think of anything off the top of my head to say what it sounds like.

Favorite Line: "Come on boys and girls, sing along, okay?" - he says it in such a cheerful voice. - or - "Your daddy's in the gutter with the wretched and the poor, Your mama's in the kitchen with a can of Cycle Four" - eew! Dog food!

I've never heard this one of Al's, but the lyrics are hiliarious! I also like the line "Your daddy's in the gutter with the wretched and the poor / Your mama's in the kitchen with a can of Cycle Four" - what a picture!

Thanks Dawn. 30 wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I have always loved this one. Even when it's a birthday you may not have been looking forward to, it gives you a good chuckle.

Thanks SAT. I told you I was just busting on you! Yep, it's Al's first album. This one was actually done before he even had a record deal. He scraped up some money to do an ep on an independent label. That very original recording is on his boxed set. It sounds pretty much the same but a little more raw.

OK, I know this is waaaaaay late, but happy birthday, Railyn! I've never heard this song, but it reminds me of another one I heard. I know 2 versions; both are sung to the tune of the "Song of the Volga Boatmen".

This is the way I heard it at camp:

Now this is the way we sang it in choir in high school whenever someone had a birthday:
