OK.. I said I would post some lyrics and so I shall. (hopefully, some of you guys will do the same)
These are the lyrics to a song I wrote in 1973, when I was living in Maine.
Very simple origin. I was talking to a friend about a girl we had known and asked him if he had heard what had happened to her. He replied “I hear she’s gone to Colorado.” It just SOUNDED like a song title. That’s all it took; I ‘invented’ a story to go with it and wrote a song.
I recorded it on reel-to-reel tape back then, and later made a cassette copy, but I have no idea how I could ever get a clip loaded – besides the quality is pretty poor. It’s kind of folk/rock/pop or something like that. But anyway, here are the lyrics.

I Hear She's Gone To Colorado
I woke up this mornin’; it was rainin’
The falling rain keeps sayin’ something’s wrong
Called her on the phone, but there’s no answer
The falling drops are telling me she’s gone
Chorus:
And I hear she’s gone to Colorado
I hear she found what she was lookin’ for
She found her happiness in Colorado, and I guess
I won’t be seein’ her no more.
Gone are all the times we spent together
Making love and walking hand-in-hand
Her image just a mem’ry in my mind now,
Gone are the tomorrows that we planned
And I hear she’s gone to Colorado
I hear she found what she was lookin’ for
She found her happiness in Colorado, and I guess
I won’t be seein’ her no more.
Instrumental bridge
And I hear she’s gone to Colorado
I hear she found what she was lookin’ for
She found her happiness in Colorado, and I guess
I won’t be seein’ her no more.
I won’t be seein’ her no more
No, I won’t be seein’ her no more
