I am, of course, familiar with this song through Bette Midler, who recorded it for the soundtrack to Beaches. Hopefully some of you will have comments to share about this classic.
I Think It's Going To Rain Today Randy Newman
Broken windows and empty hallways A pale dead moon in the sky streaked with gray Human kindness is overflowing And I think it's gonna rain today
Scarecrows dressed in the latest styles Their frozen smiles to chase love away Human kindness is overflowing And I think it's gonna rain today
Lonely, lonely Tin can at my feet I think I'll kick it down the street That's the way to treat a friend
Bright before me, the signs implore me Help the needy and show them the way Human kindness is overflowing And I think it's gonna rain today
Lonely, so lonely Tin can at my feet I think I'll kick it down the street That's the way to treat a friend
Bright before me, the signs implore me Help the needy and show them the way Human kindness is overflowing And I think it's gonna rain today

Great choice here! These lyrics really create images in my mind of wet, windswept streets that sit deserted except for a few people in their Sundays frame of mind.Lovely.
