Ok, it may be hokey, but it's the truth! (and I feel soooo bad for being gone so long.....)
THE WAY OLD FRIENDS DO By: ABBA Album: Super Trouper Author: B. Andersson/B. Ulvaes
You and I can share the silence Finding comfort together The way old friends do
And after fights and words of violence We make up with each other The way old friends do
Times of joy and times of sorrow We will always see it through
I don't care what comes tomorrow We can face it together The way old friends do
(Repeat)
My Opinion In A Nutshell: It's a bit sappy, but it's heart is in the right place, and it's a nice sentiment.
Favorite Line: "I don't care what comes tomorrow, we can face it together"

Yeah, they really are. The backing music is "different". It's hard to explain. It's pretty much just an accordion, then it builds to orchestration with each repeat. The first time my husband heard it, he wasn't paying much attention, and he asked "what's up with the church music?".

Great song from one of my favorite groups of all time. Me too. I think there are a lot more ABBA fans out there than will admit to it. They so often get dismissed as pop garbage, but they truly were talented and wrote some good stuff.

I like these lyrics - they really sum up a friendship.
I agree with your response to Tracy about their music - like you, I think they wrote some excellent songs, with superb melodies and arrangements.

What always amazed me about this one is that it's simplistic, yet speaks volumes. I sometimes wonder if that has to do with them being European? I think when English is your second language, you don't fall into the slang, etc. so much. That's just my opinion, but when I deal at work with the large amount of Eastern European people who live in America and operate Gymnastics studios, it seems to be the same.

I know what you mean,Railyn.I get that with the Osmonds, too.I like what I like no matter what is "posh". Although the Osmands are not my cup of tea, they are so immensely talented that it just amazes me, and I respect that. It's a shame more people don't respect pure talent, whether they like the music or not.
