August 27, 1965 - The King and the Fab Four met for four hours in southern California. It was the only time Elvis and The Beatles ever got together. The Beatles drove up to Elvis’ home in Bel Air, California during their 1965 American tour. According to Paul McCartney, when The Beatles walked into Elvis’ home, the King was playing a bass riff from a hit record out at the time on a bass guitar while he was watching TV. The Beatles immediately joined in jammin’ with Elvis on that song, which turned out to be both The Beatles and Elvis’ favorite song at the time. It was Charlie Rich’s hit, Mohair Sam.

That must have been an awesome jam session! I wonder if there are any recordings of it someplace?

I loved in The Anthology special how each had slightly different memories of that meeting. Yeah to have been there to witness that - incredible!
