December 3, 1938 - In a wedding ceremony outside Liverpool, England, Alfred Lennon married Julia Stanley. Two years later, the couple had a son they named John. And while John Lennon would have a profound influence on the history of rock 'n roll, his mother Julia Stanley Lennon would have a profound influence on John and another British Invasion act. It was John Lennon who suggested to his Cavern Club friend Billy Kramer that he needed a hipper stage name, so Billy chose the middle initial "J" in tribute to John's mother. John chose another way of honoring his mother when The Beatles recorded this song for the "White Album" in 1968.

It is a beautiful ballad and one of my fave tracks from the White Album.

Julia is such a beautiful song, and as with Ed, one of the highlights of the White Album for me.
