December 14, 1964 - A young musician named Michael Brown met an even younger dance student named Renee Fladen in a recording studio in New York City this week in 1964. Michael Brown became instantly infatuated with the young would be ballerina, but in vain. Renee wanted nothing to do with him, so in despair Michael Brown was inspired to write two songs about her. In September of 1966, Renee Fladen left New York City when her parents moved to Boston. Michael Brown would never see her again, but the song he wrote about her would become a hit for Brown's group, The Left Banke – Walk Away Renee.

Ah, all good art comes from pain. If Renee had gone out with him, who knows, he might've wound up writing "You're Having My Baby" instead.

Interesting story - I hadn't known that! Both songs are very nicely done.

JP, I don't think you mention the second song in your post. I assume it's "Pretty Ballerina" Anyway, that's a great story.
