2002 - Freddy Fender was released from a San Antonio, TX, hospital after having a kidney transplant the week before. Fender had been having problems related to diabetes and hepatitis C. It's funny. I hadn't heard Freddy Fender's name in years, and then last night he was a "question" on Jeopardy. I think it was something like: 'he's the singer of Wasted Days and Wasted Nights who was born Baldemar Huerta.' None of the contestants knew the answer - uh - question.

I never knew that about Freddie. Back in the late 70's / early 80's my brother's band used to cover Before The Next Teardrop Falls.
