Post by SAT-I need more room!! on Jan 10, 2005 12:56:45 GMT -5
As a connection to my post last week, I thought I'd start this as a regular feature.
We all used examples of artists our oldies, classic and rock radio stations play. But I am sure there are certain artists that are played in some markets but not others.
So which stations play these artists-
? & the Mysterians-Oldies and Timeless Rock. Classic Rock never touched this, which was wrong.
'Til Tuesday-Lite and AC. I think our 80's stations are gone.
10,000 Maniacs-Same here. Also the "hip adult" rock station.
10cc-Timeless & Oldies (I believe-I can't imagine they wouldn't). Classic Rock never touched them either.
3 Doors Down-Rock & Alternative. There used to be a small station that was even MORE rock than the Rock station here and they played them too.
38 Special-Classic Rock. There is only a small Classic Rock station now, but they play them. Timeless Rock does NOT. I suppose AC & Lite would play Second Chance.
ABBA-Never heard em on oldies, but I suppose Lite plays em.
AC/DC-Definitely all the Rock stations. Timeless does not, unless they are doing a featured year. The old Classic Rock stations didn't at first but added them along with Rush as they changed their set lists.
Ace-Timeless & Oldies. Classic rock never touched this, which sucked.
Adam Ant-Although the small Classic Rock station plays more of the lightweight 80's stuff than any Classic Rock before it, I don't think they touch him. Lite & AC played his comeback, Wonderful.
Let's hear it!

Remember that the only radio I listen to is the "60s and 70s station" in my area, and I don'tlisten that much to that:
? & the Mysterians- Yes -- often.
'Til Tuesday- i know I heard them on the radio recently, but I don't know where.. it's too new for that station.
ABBA- I have heard them a little.
Ace-How Long occassionally

Well, as I said, I don't listen to much radio anymore (just sometimes at work and occasionally in the car--but I usually listen to my CD's at both work and in the car), so I think I'll pass on this feature because I don't know what all the radio stations here are doing nowadays.
However, your post here reminds me of a mix tape I made to listen to in the car. I call it "Mom's 'A Number of Groups' Mix" and it has U2, 38 Special, 10,000 Maniacs, Matchbox 20...well, you get the idea.

? & the Mysterians - Oldies.
'Til Tuesday - I've heard them a few times on the A/C stations.
10,000 Maniacs - A/C.
10cc - Oldies, although not recently. Haven't heard them yet on the new Timeless, although I can see them fitting into the playlist very well.
3 Doors Down - The two Rock stations.
38 Special - I've heard them on the Classic Rock station and the two Rock stations.
ABBA - One of the oldies stations plays Dancing Queen, but that's it. Very overlooked, unfortunately.
AC/DC - Classic Rock and Rock, quite a bit.
Ace - Oldies, and I've heard it twice so far on the new Timeless.
Adam Ant - None of the stations here play him normally, although I've heard Goody Two Shoes on the syndicated '80s shows.

? & the Mysterians - Oldies radio
Til Tuesday & 10,000 Maniacs - not sure
10cc, Abba, & Ace - More on the Lite Rock stations, maybe a couple songs make the oldies station playlist.
3 Doors Down - Our local Classic Rock station also plays the more recent rock (90s & current). So we can get 3 Doors Down, .38 Special, & AC/DC on the same station. It's kind of cool as I can here the older classic rock & try to get current as well.
.38 Special & AC/DC - There's a Classic Rock station in Topeka that plays these.
Adam Ant - Does anybody want to play Adam Ant music?
