I was reading Pete's b-day post, and saw what said to be a new member. But then I looked and he had no name, and joined in Jan of 1970! STRANGE.............

I just saw that too! I can't see Ken deleting his account, so I don't know what'd be up.

I don't know whats going on either. I've been off all day basically, and just logged in. I am totally confused. I will say that at this moment, Juggie and I are on line, and the person you see as a guest, is Ken. I recognize the IP. I just realized that with whatever happened, he probably couldn't tell us because he couldn't get on. Anyway, Ken, I just approved your account, so you should be able to log in now. Let us know what is going on.

I'm back!!! and it feels great! For some very strange reason, I couldn't "log in." Every time I tried I got the message that either my "user name " and / or "password" was wrong.I didn't understand that, because I hadn't changed anything or done anything different. I tried again and again with no luck. Then I got a message saying that I had surpassed my number of times at trying to "log in" and that I was temporarily banned from the site but, that I could try again in an hour (very bizarre!) So after the hour had passed, obviously the only thing to do was to start over again and create a new account. I have never had any problems like this before. Very odd.

This is definitely strange. As with Ed, this has me perplexed, as I'm not sure what happened to cause this. I just did a "recount members" from the admin panel, thinking it might solve the glitch, but unfortunately it didn't help. It's possible this has something to do with the upcoming board upgrade. Proboards is in the process of upgrading to version 4.5, and I'm not sure when the Click is slated to be upgraded, but from what I've heard, it shouldn't be too much longer. Still, if so, it's odd that it affected only Ken's account. It may be just a temporary glitch with Proboards' system - the 1970 join date on Ken's old profile makes me think it might be - but if it doesn't resolve in a day or so, I'll run it by one of the powers-that-be at Proboards support and see if they can figure out what happened, and restore it back to the way it was. In any event, Ken, I apologize for the trouble you've had, but I'm glad you're back under the new account, and hopefully we can get the old one fixed soon.

OK, after talking with Ed, I was able to figure out a work-around to pull up Ken's profile directly, and I added Ken's display name and email to the profile info. It looks like all the posts Ken made under his first profile are showing up (although I need to fix the post count total), but the join date is still displaying as 1970 - unfortunately, I don't have a way to modify that. Ken, try logging into your old account using your old password; if that doesn't work, you may need to do the "forgot password" link and reset it. Let me know if you have any trouble logging in with the old account or getting your password, or with adding the avatar and pics back to your profile once you're logged in. EDIT: I entered in 6,500 as your post count, which should be close to what it was before the glitch happened.

I'm going to do a post recount for the board, but if that doesn't restore your post total, I can enter one in manually for you that will be close to what it was before the glitch. Dawn, I PMed you with some ideas about the number of Ken's posts, but I just looked and saw that the total number of posts from everyone (in the lower left corner of the home board is a little over 74,000. This number is correct, including Ken's. (I remember the number being about 73,000 plus about a month or so ago.) I tried to add up the number of posts by all our members as listed in the members boards, and roughly come up with 60,500 posts. If you add Ken at say, 6500 posts (I think he's somewhere around there, that gives 67,000 posts - about 7,000 posts below our total of 74,000. But if we add in the two major "guests" Lora left having made I'd say about 4,000 posts ?? And of course Dave was about 6,000. Well, that would total 77,000 posts. So that doesn't make any sense, and unless my math is wrong ----- I'm getting a headache.

I think your estimate for Dave's count might be a little high, though - probably closer to 5,000. I know he was behind Adam, you, me, and Ken two years ago when he was deleted, and I think I had around 6,000 or so posts at the time. Lora at 4,000 sounds right. Still, even with Dave at 5,000 posts, that puts us a couple of thousand over the count. EDIT: A couple of hundred of those posts might be due to duplicate accounts; for example, when Juggie rejoined, I bumped up his post total on the new account to match what it would have been under his old account.

It looks like one of the settings got changed somehow to "disable account", although I have no idea how it happened.

I entered the activation key and was able to access the boards, but some of the icons were missing ??

That's odd about needing the activation key, as I disabled that activation process a couple of years ago after the last upgrade when a couple of people weren't able to log in after their IP provider filtered out their activation emails. It appears that the Click is developing some glitches of late, and as I mentioned earlier, I have to wonder if it's related to the upcoming software upgrade. Again, Ken, I'm sorry for all this trouble - I know it has to be frustrating. I'm glad you were able to access your old account, but I'm wondering why the icons aren't showing up. Do you mean the ones beside the reply, quote, modify, etc. buttons, or the emoticons?

Thanks again, Dawn It has been a bit frustrating, being able to access the site all this time and then out of nowhere, having all these problems, but no worries, I'll survive The icons I noticed that were missing were the "spinning discs" beside each forum name and the numbers at the top of the page beside your name, where it shows how many messages you have and how many are new. Instead of a number it was just blank.

Instead of a number it was just blank. The spinning CDs are gif files, and are externally linked from my Photobucket account, but the message totals are imbedded in the Proboards script. One thing you could try is clearing your IE cache and see if that helps - it may be that some of the scripts have become corrupted somehow. That happened to me a few months ago when I was having trouble viewing the Photobucket site.
