I FINALLY figured out how to burn a mix CD on our computer! I used to do tapes, and now I can do CD's. I had a bunch of tapes I called "Mom's Mix" tapes ("mom" being myself, of course ). They were for the car and I made sure they were "kid-friendly". One thing I did was to come up w/mixes in which the artists all had the same initial. So here's my first CD of that sort, and if you don't know who some of these people are, look them up! Mom's "Awesome A Artists" Mix 1. The Alarm-"Rescue Me" 2. America-"Woman Tonight" 3. Ray Anthony-"The Hucklebuck" 4. Ace-"How Long" 5. Susan Ashton-"Alice in Wonderland" 6. Allman Bros.-"Jessica" 7. Gene Autry-"Back in the Saddle Again" 8. Tori Amos-"Baker Baker" 9. Ambrosia-"I Wanna Know" 10. Aaron & Jeoffrey-"We All Need" 11. Agartha-"Crossing" 12. Louis Armstrong-"A Kiss to Build a Dream On" 13. Azymuth-"So Papo" 14. Fiona Apple-"Extraordinary Machine" 15. The Arlenes-"Lonely Won't Leave Me Alone" 16. The Aquatones-"You" 17. American Analog Set-"The Only One" 18. Gene Ammons-"Canadian Sunset" 19. Alabama-"Mountain Music" On some of these, I have the artists' CD's, and others are from compilation discs. I don't know how many of these I'll get to do (or how many I'll get to post here--I'm a busy gal, y'know ), but since this was my first one in the CD format, I thought I'd show it to you all. It's fun to see what neat mixes you can come up with when the only thing they have in common is the artists' initials! I'll probably start on "Mom's 'Big B Artists' Mix" tonight if I have time...

That's a cool idea, Laura. I kinda like mixes like that where something non-musical (in this case, the fact that all the artists begin with "A") is the only thing that bond them together.

I'd never thought of doing a mix based on artists' names, but that's a very cool and creative idea. Nice variety of styles there!

Thanks! When I was doing tapes, I also did one called "Mom's 'A Number of Groups' Mix" that had groups with numbers in their names (U2, Take 6, 38 Special, 10,000 Maniacs, etc.), and I'll probably do a CD like that also.

Did you get the Gene Autry & Louis Armstrong songs off the "Sleepless in Seattle" compilation soundtrack?
I saw the Alarm once- they opened for Dylan during one of his tours.
The Ace song is my fave of all these.

Did you get the Gene Autry & Louis Armstrong songs off the "Sleepless in Seattle" compilation soundtrack? Sure did! I saw them too--only when I saw them (about '89 or so), they were the headliners. One of the best concerts I've ever seen! Their opening act was the Kevin McDermott Orchestra (which wasn't really an orchestra, they were a 4-piece rock band), and they were good too.

Interesting mix of music Laura. My faves would be Woman Tonight, Jessica, Mountain Music, & How Long. The others are pretty good as well.

Interesting mix of music Laura. My faves would be Woman Tonight, Jessica, Mountain Music, & How Long. The others are pretty good as well. I have to tell you guys this story: One day in the park I saw a girl named Laurie whom I had known in school and hadn't seen her in a long time. I also had known her cousin Diane. I was telling Laurie that I had recently met Diane's daughter. Well, Diane's daughter's name is Jessica, but I got mixed up and said Melissa, and Laurie gives me this blank look. Then I realized my mistake and said, "Oops, I mean Jessica! I don't know where I came up with Melissa...Well, they're both Allman Bros. song titles; maybe that's why I got confused." (Well, that and they both have double S and end with A. Usually if I get names mixed up, they at least begin with the same letter!)
