It's been ages since we've had a new topic here on the Photos board, and I thought this might make for a fun discussion. The '60s and '70s were a time of huge changes in pretty much all areas of popular culture. It's cool to see how much the artists of that time changed in appearance during that time, even in the space of a few short years. For instance, take a look at these pictures of Chicago, from the group's official website. Here's a shot from 1967, the group's early days: and how they looked just four years later, in 1971, very hip and earthy: Then there are the Beach Boys, who will be forever known for their clean-cut, surf-oriented image, as they appeared in 1964: ...but by 1972, they looked very different indeed: There are also the famous photos of the Beatles from the Red and Blue greatest hits albums, in identical poses and setting, but 7 years apart. I remember looking at those when I was younger and thinking, "wow, they don't even look like the same people!" Feel free to add other examples to this thread!

Yes, that was the main point of the "Sgt Pepper" cover, with before and after pictures of the Beatles.
And one of the attractions of the PBS "My Music" shows, to see what all those performers look like now. (generally, less hair and more weight ;D ) *
*just like me...

Agreed - they had changed a lot in just three years from the way they appeared in those Tussaud wax figures! Speaking of PBS, last year they were doing a British Invasion special, and Peter and Gordon were one of the featured acts. I must admit, had they not mentioned who they were, I probably wouldn't have recognized the two of them. They didn't look bad, just a lot different from their '60s days.

Can I include a country artist / legend? How about Willie Nelson Sure can, Ken, and Willie is an excellent example. I think he actually looks better with the longer hair and beard in the '70s photo - the more "rugged" look suits him.

Yes, I agree I remember the first time I saw a picture of Willie from the earlier days in his career and I was stunned - lol.

Since I'm on a total Blondie kick these days, I'm going to post pics of Debbie Harry. Debbie Harry as a Playboy Bunny (I don't know the year but it was definitely before the Blondie days): Debby Harry during her more punk-ish days: Looking more "glam" (during the height of Blondie): Debbie Harry these days: Her style is still iconic and new wave! Even in her 60's!:

In that picture, maybe because of the angle, or the expression on Debbie's face, the resemblance was striking. I can still see a little resemblance in that recent picture of Debbie

Definitely a difference throughout the years, although I think she still has great style.
