I have been a huge U2 fan for years. So I was very happy when the band remastered and expanded their first three albums: "Boy", "October" and the one I purchased this week "War". "War" is my favorite of the bands early releases! The CD's are available in two configurations: a single length CD for $13.99 or if you're a fan that needs everything, the two disc deluxe version which includes the original CD plus a second disc of b-sides, live cuts and previously unreleased tracks. The expanded version will set you back $32.99! I decided for the deluxe version of "War" and was impressed. The sound is more full and the second disc also has some great nuggets. "Angels Too Tied To The Ground" a previously unreleased song makes its debut. "Endless Deep" and "Treasure (Whatever Happened To Pete The Chop)" are fine b-sides! In fact, "Treasure" has never been on any previous CD! In the 1980's, bands would offer special extended mixes for dance clubs. Bono himself was a fan of dance music, so it's no surprise U2 also got involved. The listener will get to hear three dance mixes of "Two Hearts Beat As One", two extended and the single 45 mix of "New Years Day". Maybe just one mix of each song would have suited me just fine. But at least no one accuse the band no giving fans value for their dollar. So whether you a first time, or long time fan. I recommend the remastered U2 CDs.
