While stationed in Greenland, my across the hall DJ neighbor & I did a one hour radio show featuring songs with a city in California in the title. While I don't remember all the songs we did, here is a partial list. I got the show on casette buried somewhere in all my "billions & billions" of casettes
We started with Surfin' USA by the Beach Boys only because it mentions a lot of beach towns in California.
We finished with San Bernadino by Christie, because that is my home town.
In between, & in no particular order we played the following. Apologies if I repeat anything.
Ventura Highway - America
Do You Know the Way to San Jose - Dionne Warwick
Sausilito Summernight - Diesel
Mendecino - Sir Douglas Quintet
Lodi - CCR
LA International Airport - Can't remember who did this but it was a female country singer.
LA Woman - Doors
Hollywood Nights - Bob Seger
Say Goodnight to Hollywood - Billy Joel
Little Old Lady from Pasadena - Jan & Dean
San Francisco - Scott MacKenzie
There is probably a few other songs that I just can't remember. I'll have to dig out the tape.
This was my first time behind a mike, & it showed the first 10-15 minutes of the show. After that, I relaxed & was okay. We taped on Thursday & it aired the following Saturday. Everyone who listened thought it was a pretty cool show.
