Just saw this on another site...sad news on the anniversary of the day we lost another talented singer/musician. Former The Classics IV singer Dennis Yost dies December 08, 2008 16:21 EST CINCINNATI (AP) -- Lead singer Dennis Yost of the 1960s soft rock group The Classics IV has died in an Ohio hospital. He was 65. Yost's friend and biographer Joe Glickman said the singer died Sunday at Fort Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, about 30 miles northwest of Cincinnati. Hospital spokeswoman Marielou Vierling said Yost died of respiratory failure at 2:25 a.m. Sunday. The Classics IV's hits included "Spooky," "Stormy" and "Traces of Love." Glickman said Yost had been in nursing homes since suffering a brain injury sustained in a fall in 2005. The Classics IV got their start in Jacksonville, Fla., where Detroit native Yost was raised. Glickman said Yost and The Classics IV were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 1993. www.wtte28.com/template/inews_wire/wires.regional.oh/2818a7e1-www.wtte28.com.shtmlI know quite a few of us here on the Click are fans of the Classics IV. I've mentioned before about getting their Greatest Hits on cassette in October 1988 and playing it over and over in my car for weeks. Even to this day, when I hear one of their songs, it reminds me of fall. RIP, Dennis.

Very sad news. Thank you for giving us Traces of Love, my favorite Classics IV song. RIP Dennis, you are gone but never forgotten.

Sad news.
Dennis had a mellow voice and was always pleasing to the ear. Traces is in my all time Top 250 songs.
The link that Dawn posted says he had been in nursing homes for the past three years after sustaining brain injuries in a fall. A sad end for a great singer.
RIP, Dennis.

Traces is in my all time Top 250 songs. What number is it? I just looked through your posts and couldn't find it! (Then again I am on break now, so I had to hurry and maybe I missed it...)

Here it is. 149. Traces – The Classics IV (1969, #2) This song and the next one share a mystical, nostalgic quality that I’ve always been partial to. In this one, the instrumentation (is that a sax or a clarinet?) is a perfect backup for Dennis Yost’s vocals. It always leaves me with a sad longing for days gone by. Beautifully done!

'k, I found it. And btw, I agree w/you all--Dennis had a great voice! The Classics IV songs (well, the ones I know, anyway) have been going thru' my head ever since I read about his death. My favorite is "Every Day With You" (or "Every Day With You, Girl"--not sure which is the exact title). They're one of those groups that I don't know much about, although their music pops up on the oldies stations sometimes.

I liked "Every Day with You" also, Laura, except for that line where he repeats 'More and More' about 100 times.

Very, very sad news I've always loved "Spooky." I still remember finding my really nice original copy of the 45 back in the 80's. RIP Dennis
