Another round of songs to consider and rate. Our scale: 5.0 - A song you absolutely love, one of your absolute favorites 4.0 - While not quite top-tier, a song you enjoy a lot 3.0 - Not a favorite, but you basically like it 2.0 - A "meh" song, you could take it or leave it 1.0 - Yikes! Turn that song off! **************************************************** Barracuda - Heart 4.25 Peggy Sue - Buddy Holly 4.0 I Just Can't Stop Loving You - Michael Jackson 1.25 (I remember this was very overplayed back in the day. He pretty much lost me after Thriller) Everybody Loves a Clown - Gary Lewis & the Playboys 3.3 (pleasant song you don't hear much on oldies radio these days) Ride Like the Wind - Christopher Cross 5.0 (absolutely love this!) Cracklin' Rosie - Neil Diamond 4.0 Lies - Thompson Twins 3.5 Good Thing - Paul Revere & the Raiders 4.3 (another one of the songs I remember from way back, although the first version of it I heard was one of those "HIT" Records soundalikes) Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffett 3.5 I Want to Know What Love Is - Foreigner 2.0 Silly Love Songs - Paul McCartney & Wings 4.75 (one of the greatest basslines ever!) Undun - Guess Who 4.5 Against All Odds - Phil Collins 2.5 Don't Cry Out Loud - Melissa Manchester 3.5 Mountain of Love - Johnny Rivers 2.5

Barracuda - Heart 5.0 It still gets played here quite often on the local classic rock station, But I've never grown tired of it. Peggy Sue - Buddy Holly 5.0 I Just Can't Stop Loving You - Michael Jackson 1.25 Wow, I don't remember this one at all, lol I had a listen to an audio sample, and it really didn't do much for me. The three tracks I remember hearing at the time were Bad, Man in The Mirror and Smooth Criminal. Everybody Loves a Clown - Gary Lewis & the Playboys 4.3 I've always enjoyed all of Gary's hits, especially Count Me In, She's Just My Style and Save Your Heart For Me. Ride Like the Wind - Christopher Cross 5.0 Me too, it takes me right back, everytime I hear it. Cracklin' Rosie - Neil Diamond 4.0 Childhood memories Lies - Thompson Twins 2.2 Never was a huge fan, Hold Me Now IMO, was their best. Good Thing - Paul Revere & the Raiders 5,0 Killer! One of the first Paul Revere hits I heard. Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffett 4.2 I Want to Know What Love Is - Foreigner 3.0 I listened to this quite a bit when it was current, saw the video several times as well. I listen to their other hits way more often. I can't recall the last time I gave this a spin. Silly Love Songs - Paul McCartney & Wings 4.75 "One of the greatest basslines ever!" Dawn, I couldn't agree more! Undun - Guess Who 4.9 Against All Odds - Phil Collins 3.0 Don't Cry Out Loud - Melissa Manchester 3.1 Mountain of Love - Johnny Rivers 4.8

Barracuda - Heart 3.4 Not my favorite by them, but not bad.
Peggy Sue - Buddy Holly 4.0 Classic!!
I Just Can't Stop Loving You - Michael Jackson 2.9 Not a fave, but I don't mind it that much.
Everybody Loves a Clown - Gary Lewis & the Playboys 2.5 Like I always say. Gary Lewis has no voice! It is forgiven for This Diamond Ring and maybe one or two others, where he makes it work. But not this one.
Ride Like the Wind - Christopher Cross 3.0 Pretty good, but also not a fave.
Cracklin' Rosie - Neil Diamond 3.4 Overplayed
Lies - Thompson Twins 3.0 Pretty good, but also not a fave.
Good Thing - Paul Revere & the Raiders 4.0 Good one
Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffett 4.2 Good song that has become a classic on several levels
I Want to Know What Love Is - Foreigner 3.3 I love Lou's voice, and I've never minded the big hair ballads at all. The thing that I DON'T like about this song is it sounds like someone has grabbed another guy by the lapels and his shaking him back and forth screaming "I want To Know What Love Is, and You better tell me or else!!"
Silly Love Songs - Paul McCartney & Wings 5.0 It's a Nancy song from my courtin' days, and #6 all time!
Undun - Guess Who 4.3 Likely a top 500 song
Against All Odds - Phil Collins 3.0 Close to my favorite by Phil, and that's not saying that much.
Don't Cry Out Loud - Melissa Manchester 3.8 Good song, but it doesn't stand up to Midnight Blue
Mountain of Love - Johnny Rivers 3.3 I prefer the original by Harold Dorman

Barracuda - Heart 2.5 (Even though Ann and Nancy are practically from my backyard, I'm not really into Heart.)
Peggy Sue - Buddy Holly 3.0
I Just Can't Stop Loving You - Michael Jackson 2.0 (I've got to admit, until today I had never heard this song. I live in a MJ-free area, I suppose. I wonder if the talking segment at the beginning of the song was always included..?)
Everybody Loves a Clown - Gary Lewis & the Playboys 3.0
Ride Like the Wind - Christopher Cross 4.0 (When my husband and I would take nighttime rides on his motorcycle years ago, this song would often go through my head.....It's a perfect nighttime, wind-blowing-through-your hair freely song.)
Cracklin' Rosie - Neil Diamond 4.0 (Another happy childhood song. Reminds me of a summer morning.)
Lies - Thompson Twins 2.0 (Never a TT fan.)
Good Thing - Paul Revere & the Raiders 4.0
Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffett 3.5
I Want to Know What Love Is - Foreigner 2.0 (It's an OK song, but Gene Simmons ruined it for me. If you want to know what I'm talking about, google "Gene" and the songs title.)
Silly Love Songs - Paul McCartney & Wings 5.0 (Heeeere I go......AGAIN!)
Undun - Guess Who 5.0 (Great song.....love the Guess Who)
Against All Odds - Phil Collins 2.0
Don't Cry Out Loud - Melissa Manchester 3.5
Mountain of Love - Johnny Rivers 2.5

I used to hear his hits quite a bit on the oldies stations back in the late '80s-early '90s, but almost never do these days. I'm the same way with the Foreigner song - usually when I listen to them now, it's their older songs like Double Vision or Cold As Ice, or the songs from 4.

Ann's vocals are phenomenal, and there's some great guitar on the track as well. Cracklin' Rosie is one of those songs that has aged very well, and has a certain warmth to it. I like a lot of Neil's work from around this period, like Sweet Caroline and Song Sung Blue.

Very good writing, especially lyrically, and the melody is easy to sing along with. LOL about I Want to Know What Love Is! ;D It does get kinda intense vocally on the song in places.

I really like the Guess Who as well. A couple of years ago, Mark got me their Anthology CD for Christmas, and that introduced me to some great album cuts I hadn't heard before, especially their '68 - '71 material. I'm working on getting some of their albums.
