I'm sorry to hear of Dan's passing. I've always liked the songs of England Dan & John Ford Coley, and also some of his solo country work.
I hadn't known this, but I read on another forum that Dan (and also John) had been in a psychedelic band called Southwest F.O.B. back in the '60s. Here's a clip of a TV performance of the group:

Back when I was in Hell (I mean, dj'ing at KHAD in DeSoto, Mizzou), he had just released "Everything that Glitters is not Gold", which is as beautiful a country ballad as I've ever come across--and it was a followup to his rather overblown "Bop", so it never got the attention it was due...
Sad news...I will mourn.

I heard this from my dad the other day-we did our usually song references back and forth-"Well guess he'll Never Have to Say Goodbye Again"......
