Just found out about this station today. It's WLNG, an oldies station based out of the Long Island, NY area. They are said to have a 10,000 song playlist that spans from the '50s through the '80s, including some very deep cuts, plus some cool retro-sounding jingles. I've been listening for a short time, and have heard Ricky Nelson's Garden Party, The Archies' Jingle Jangle (have never heard that on any other oldies station!), the Four Seasons' C'mon Marianne, Bruce Springsteen's I'm On Fire, and Chuck Berry's Nadine! Interestingly, their Arbitron share is the highest in their area. The tired 200-song oldies stations that are so prevalent these days should take a cue from this station! Check it out at www.wlng.com/ - they have several online streaming options.

Listening further, they played Elvis' Don't Be Cruel followed by the Rolling Stones' Hang Fire! It's been ages since I've heard either of those songs on the radio, much less back-to-back!
And this afternoon, I heard Olivia Newton-John's Physical, the Bee Gees' Stayin' Alive, Dionne Warwick's This Girl's in Love with You (another one I've never heard on an oldies station before) the Drifters' Saturday Night at the Movies, and Nu Shooz' I Can't Wait. How's that for variety?!

I've been hearing stuff like Tears for Fears and Steve Winwood's solo hits on some of the L.A. oldies stations, and did that ever make me do a double-take at first! Where does the time go? I just found out not long ago that a grade school friend of mine, a month or so younger than me, is a GRANDmother! Definitely another one of those "I'm old" moments!
