Brighton's 1st birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks (yeah, we all need to put a another candle on our birthday cake, because it's been that long). Of course I have to make a CD for him. I went more party, less birthday. Figured I'd make a CD that 20 years from now, we'd slip it into some antique CD player & listen to the cool oldies while he enjoys his 1st legal margarita, much as is mother did. Anyway, here's the party list. Enjoy!!
Birthday - Beatles I Get Around - Beach Boys Mony Mony - Tommy James & the Shondells Hang on Sloopy - The McCoys Double Shot of My Baby's Love - Swingin' Medallions Good Lovin' - Rascals You're Mama Don't Dance - Loggins & Messina Johnny B. Goode - Chuck Berry Dancing in the Street - Martha & the Vandellas Shout Parts 1&2 - Isley Brothers Play that Funky Music - Wild Cherry That's the Way (I Like It) - KC & the Sunshine Band Dance to the Music - Sly & the Family Stone Celebration - Kool & the Gang Twisting the Night Away - Sam Cooke Jailhouse Rock - Elvis Presley At the Hop - Flash Cadillac & Continental Kids Be My Baby - Ronettes Surf City - Jan & Dean Surfin' USA - Beach Boys Down On the Corner - Creedence Clearwater Revival December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night) - Four Seasons Incense & Peppermint - Strawberry Alarm Clock (sorry Ed) Do Wah Diddy - Manfred Mann Joy to World - Three Dog Night Wild Thing - Troggs The Loco-Motion - Grand Funk Railroad

An excellent mix of songs, Woody. This will be a great CD for Brighton to listen to for years to come. He is lucky to have a cool granddad like you to introduce him to all the great classics!

Great track list, Woody! A question: Which version of "Double Shot" did you put on there? I remember there being a "dirty" version and a censored version. The "real" words say: "worst hangover I ever had" and "that girl of mine she loved me so right." the censored version changed it to "worst morning after I ever had" and "that girl of mine she kissed me so right." I have the censored version on a 45 and the real version on a Swingin' Medalions album.

"worst hangover I ever had" and "that girl of mine she loved me so right." THAT got censored?!?! And they say that TODAY we live in a PC society... Man, after all these years of wishing I'd been around during the '60s, maybe it's a good thing I wasn't there after all... Is that like Jay & The Americans at a party drinking SODA? I'll save the Diet Pepsi for my lunch break... ::sigh:: Life would suck without booze and sex.. But you just couldn't sing about them back then...

I have no idea why they'd ever need to censor that word.

I have the "dirty version" on the CD - Sessions Presents 60's Frat Rock. I also have a cover done by The Rubinoos. I agree, it's weird that it was ever censored.

Neat collection! Was there really a censored version of "Double Shot"? Well, the Top 40 AM stations back then always played the "real" version" when I was a kid. And now we're all paying the price for that...
